Glad you're finally sorted. But 9 days :wtf: surely they just need to put through an ETF
They have to "discover" how to do that first.

Many don't auto-devalue.Also signed up with them recently so this isn't encouraging.
On this subject, when are cars devalued? Is it a year after you sign up, or January of every year? If the former I'm just waiting to see if they automatically reduce the value of my car end Feb - if not, I'm cancelling.

Hahaha,Interesting... the origional sell with Discovery Insurance was that they would never use the DQ information against premiums or claims, only rewards. Thats obviously changed then.
That said, the months I spent with Discovery and trying to make my driving smoother and more measured definitely made me a better driver.
.
Wife is on DI - she has been accident free for 10 years prior to it and they are now hiking her premiums because "she drives reckless" - turns out that leaving/entering her office park she needs to do a sharp u-turn and these incidents twice a day are recorded as "reckless" resulting now in an increase in premiums. DI is complete garbage. No idea why SO insisted on DI for herself - now she is begging to join Santam under home-owners-insurance (which will probably save her 40% on premiums).
I have been with Santam for a good 20 years and never had an issue with anything. They are certainly more expensive then some of the budget-insurances (such as crappy King Price or Outsurance) but they will pay out claims without making their customers feel like criminals.
This, have been with them for almost a year now and I definitely have improved my driving number 1 and number 2 I get about 500 rand back a month aswell as a free smoothie everyweek. Due to me being under 26 I am on the young drivers beneifit so I get up to 25% of my last 6 months premiums back every six months.
What I dont like is how when a taxi or someone cuts in front of you and it picks up harsh braking. Either you need to drive 10km/h to avoid this or smash into whats in front of you.
But if I work my rewards right, my premium is almost covered.
I feel like I am taking crazy pills, am I the only one that sees insurance for what it is? Insurance. I dont understand this trend with smoothies and points and getting an anal probe to track your driving??
Unless you're benefiting from their fuel cash back why not disable that thing.

Explain? No problem with that. I prefer it actually.
As long as they pay out for the value it is insured and you are paying the premium based on that. I prefer it to be the new full value
All things considered, her current DI premium (on a 2015 Peugeot 307) is 1,7K (I was like: :crylaugh: and :wtf- that's what happens when married wiminz want to be financially independent. With Santam under the household insurance she will drop to just shy of 1K. Just madness on DI's part.
My Santam broker is fantastic - she reviews my cover every year around November, we adjust listed items / values and she then mails through updated policy documents. Claims processing is as simple as "Hi, I need to claim for XYZ" and either an assessor comes out within 1-2 days or if it is car-related I would just drive to one of their assessment centres. When power-surges blew up our TV a few days before Xmas, Santam said "We can only sent out an assessor in January due to holidays, but we are transferring 15K as a settlement so that your family has a TV over the holiday". I doubt that many other insurers would be like that - hence my loyalty to that company. That's how insurance should work.

Maybe I should get in touch with your broker when this whole debacle is done and dusted.
