Discovery Vitality [2019]

Only change I heard of regarding gyms is a min of 30min at the gym to get points, so somehow they going to be tracking exit times.
Were there really that many people making the mission of going all the way to the gym, swiping in and then leaving immediately just for the points??

Pretty sure there are quite a lot, and I can imagine financially why Virgin may care, but also the way I see it, if youple are still active it should not matter much.

When I was more into my road running I would often see this couple running in the mornings, when I joined virgin I saw where they were running too. By my estimation they we re doing about a 10km run with Virgin turnstiles being part of the route.

I wonder how they convinced Virgin to go along with this idea, I know it's a a massive financial partnership, but I also see how people just running the turnstiles is a pro for virgin, they get paid without having to upgrade or expand facilities as much.

When are they planning to implement the 30mins restriction at VA?

I used to go to get my free milkshake. But with the vitality changes I stopped.

How are they going to implement this new 30min rule? I see no new equipment at my VA. Will you have to swipe on exit?

That would be my guess, cannot imagine any other way they could do it.

I did ask at my gym and they have no idea.

I use the gyms simply for a nice stop to get cold fresh water on my running route, and I’m on the pre 2010 free gym. I hate being couped up on a treadmill or the like. But I like my free gym membership ;-)

Hey guys,

I am with discovery and vitality and I am currently only paying and earning back gym fees for one location.

How does the discovery benefit work if I want access to more than 1 club? Do I still get all my fees payed back or only up to a certain amount?

You only get gym. Booster paid back to you if you are on one club only, if you access others ie premium you don't get cash back just the discounted rates

So if the fees are R600 for more than 1 club and I meet my goals each week, what would I expect to pay?

The premium membership is about 400/month irrespective of goals met - that's the Vitality rate. No refunds for meeting your goals

looks like there's no more of those online assessments you can do?

You can still do the Vitality Age thing for 2500 points. On the webiste, just click on your Vitality age (mine showed as ? on the 1st).

They should add one for the stress that DH and Vitality cause us when we try to get them to pay a claim! The Smart Plan should be renamed to the 'Freakin Impossible Plan Where We Still Don't Pay Your Claims Based on T&C's'

Mine hasn't been reset yet - still shows my Vitality age from last year. Hmmm...

Edit: I see what you mean with the "?". Did the test now.
