I am looking for Disk encryption software, what I'd like to have it do is as follows:

1. Encrypt and hide Folders/files
2. Encrypt Removable media (Memeory sticks and external Hard Disks)

Not a fan of the virtual drive solutions.

Anybody got any suggestions or recomendations?

I have looked at Truecrypt and storagecrypt.

Thanks

What OS are you using? XP or Vista?
Some flash drives have built-in drive encryption and are compatible with XP and Vista.
Vista Ultimate has drive encryption as an option.

Safeboot - Check it out. More for the protection of stolen lap-tops etc.

If you are using Microsoft Windows Vista I suggest reading up on a new dynamic feature called Bitlocker.

Just realize that if something goes wrong with the disk, you can't recover it. Data will be 100% farked.

TrueCrypt is the best free one out there afaik.

I had a look at Truecrypt a while back and it looked good. One question I have is. Why would anyone want to encrypt data on their PC? Perhaps someone who keeps some personal data at work may want to but I can't really see any other good reason.

+1 for Truecrypt.

@Abe: I use it for encrypting Usernames & Passwords, can't remember them all :)

But there are a lot of things that I can think of to encrypt, data on a flash drive you don't want anyone to see/have.

Personal stuff on your hard-drive (IE. P0rn ;) )

Pretty much those things :D

Also I store saved passwords, email etc. on mine, I'd rather have it encrypted especially so if someone steals my laptop the whole world can't access my personal data.

Abe you want people going through your mail and photo's if they decide to scan through your memory stick or laptop?

Does not mean what you want to keep private and secure has to be illegal
