Dissapointed in Afrihost

So I signed up With Afrihost last month and was connected fast and efficiently. Then this month it worked wonders, even toped up with additional 1gb when mine ran out.

Unfortunately I have to cancel the 5gb from the end of the month and since I couldn't do it on the Panel I send a mail detailing that I wanted the account cancelled for November.

Tried to connect tonight to use my additional 790mb but couldn't. Mailbox reveiled that account was now confirmed cancelled. Upon 24hr enquiry I got feedback that my cancellation was with Immediate effect.

Now I can understand that it's good deal and while I paid service was great. Now when they already have my money for a service paid for my account gets cancelled BEFORE november and I end up losing 790mb.

I know it's only R29 but geez where's integrity Afrihost??

I thought they said the cancellation only takes effect at the end of the month?
 
So in otherwords what you want to tell me is suck it up. Don't bother, move to the next company that can screw you over....

Sick and tired of companies in SA that screw people over. No business integrity at all! Wonder why so many go bankrupt!

yeah sorry for being so insensitive. I just think that people sometimes make these of derogatory topic titles because they feel like breaking down a successful brand.

its not nearly as bad service as one would expect from Telkom's empire. I guess you're just venting it on the wrong guys..

Anyway, it's unfortunate what happened to your megs but have you tried contacting Afrihost's CEO? hes chilling around here someplace.

Just explain to him and maybe he would be able to fix you up..

Why should the CEO be the one to provide the service in the company? I'm not saying Afrihost is bad. I'm saying that when the money comes in service is excellent, but when it goes out it doesn't need to go sour! And yes we received the short end of the stick from telkom and their service, but we don't need more telkoms in the market.

Just strange that I was told within 10 minutes that my account was immediatly stopped. But upon requesting an explanation as to why I lost my 790mb's is still to be answered nearly an hour later?
 
I don't know why you had to cancel, but if it is for money reasons, you're not going to get a better deal somewhere else. Somehow I find it strange that you complain about 700 mb now, while starting from next month it looks like you have 0 mb anyway seeing you canceled

he is still entitled to his 790MB this month. what his cirumstances are for next month are irrelevant.

Reason for cancelling was that the Telkom Do3 gives me ADSL Rental + 5GB + 30GB local for R544 instead of me paying Telkom ADSL + Afrifost 5GB for R558 (R413 + R145) and then there is no local and 12hour resets.
 
Ive been trying to cancel one of my accounts for the last couple of days on the control panel but evrytime I come back the next day it is still active :mad:

I think most people found you can't cancel from the control panel in the end, just email/phone them.

Been there done that account got cancelled. Engaged them on email and eventually was told that account wil be reinstated. Enquired if I then would have to request cancellation again vor november and account got cancelled again!!!!

Thank you Afrihost in a lesson on how to not treat my customers.
 
I am completely confused.

I am told that there is a 1 month notice period, while at the same time I hear about people being cut off immediately.

Clarity please Afrihost.

Also canceled an account earlier this month......sent accounts a mail & immediately got reply that they will look into it & reply......

6 DAYS later got reply from "admin person 1" that account is now canceled & will not be billed for next month....all in order for me, only had about 16MB left.

30min later got a second mail from "admin person 2" that account is on 30 days cancellation & will be billed for next month. ???? Huh:eek:

??? Why was 2 different people handling a cancellation with 2 different outcomes :confused:

Mailed them both back to get the story straight.....they went with "admin person 1" .... account was canceled immediately with no more billing :cool:

Opposite experience for me

I got 2 accounts with Afrihost, plan was to use them both then cancel 1 as I only wanted the additional bandwidth for a month.

I try 1 month in advance to cancel only to find out latter the client zone does not work to cancel. I email them to explain that they must cancel the account as the client zone is not registering the cancellation. The idiots email me back with instructions to use the client zone!!! I email them again, then they apologize & confirm they have cancelled it, after that they email me an invoice for both accounts, I check client zone, both accounts still there.

I DO NOT CARE HOW MUCH U PEOPLE WINE ABOUT CHEAP DATA FROM THEM, IT DOES NOT CHANGE THE FACT THAT THEY ARE USELESS INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDERS.

DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR CREDIT CARD DETAILS. YOU WILL SIGN AWAY ALL CONTROL OVER THE CHARGES FROM THEM. THEN WHEN U WANT TO LEAVE THEY MAKE IT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO CANCEL THE ACCOUNT.

I'm also starting to get pretty annoyed with them - I have cancelled my one account TWICE - and now I've just received an invoice from them again for the account. How difficult can it be?

I think I'd rather pay more, and get decent service, like I had been with other service providers.
