Hey guys,

There's no nice way to intro this, so in short, divorce is on the cards for me.

Anyway, I've started doing some research regarding how to get it done in the quickest, and if I may add, most cost effective way, but I think some advice will help.

Were were married out of community of property and both of us respect that so there's no quibbles about who takes what.

I've searched a bit online and see there's a couple of companies that offer online services in this regard, where all the legal admin is left up to the divorcing parties. It seems easy enough, but I am feeling a bit uncertain regarding how legit they are. On top of that, a friend told me recently that, when you appear in court to put the final nails in the thing, that they could ask who your legal representative is. These services mention nothing of the kind.

Any advice from anyone? What's the best route to follow?

Careful. Cover this aspect well if you don't want to be caught with your pants down. For starters, do you have the above in writing?

Just go to the divorce court and collect the forms (4 pages)
fill them in and take them back to the court and 2 weeks later you will receive the summons from the court in the mail, that you must take to the sheriff who will serve the papers on your SO.(in the papers you receive from the court by post your court date will be there)Takes about 6 weeks to 2 months cost if not contested about R250.
On the day of the divorce you appear in person and tell the judge why you want the divorce and it is normally grated all of 3 minutes later.
BTW i did my own divorce like this and a friend of mine is doing the same at the moment.
It was painless and a relief when it was over.

Did mine the same. My ex went with me when we took the papers to the sheriff but we still had to pay the delivery charge of R89. That was the total cost.
