DMCA Takedown Requests Effect Usenet Completion

Please could you advise on the best way to extract manually. If I go into the incomplete folder, and try to right-click extract (with 7-zip) on the main-file-name.RAR it gives me an error. I assume that it would be uploaded 100% by this time, as it was aired over 2 days ago.

I will re-add, and re download for testing purposes after you advise the best way to extract manually. (if it doesnt work)

used this and it dont work matey

Use winrar - don't redownload if its two days old - then its definetly up.

I haven't had any problems with my setup.... using Blocknews/Newdemon/Saix

If you guys are using SABnzbd+ to download files, make sure that you have the latest version: 0.7.6
They've made quite a few improvements regarding the handling of .par files. Like previously your downloads may have shown "incomplete" when the filenames in the .par files was different from what you've downloaded.

Openelec guys need to pull finger ;)

vampire , two and half men and big bang 720p , all failed me today on newsdemon :(

luckily i have wug also :p

I haven't had any issues yet this week.

My data spread is as follow:
EU Astraweb: 160MB * My Astraweb downloads are throttled 1:10 with my MikroTik router when my MWEB connection is active and getting almost full line speed :D
US Astraweb: 110MB
XSUsenet: 5.9GB
MWEB: 3.3GB

Most of my stuff are 480p and not 720p.

So the providers with US servers all process take-downs very quickly.

Those would be Highwinds (Newsdemon is one of their resellers for example), Astraweb and Readnews (Blocknews is one of their resellers).

Typically using companies based in the netherlands is the solution XSUsenet, Sunnyusenet. They've been cut-off from credit card payment gateways and Paypal is refusing to process their payments.

So if like me you were lucky enough to buy an account with a long subscription before this all started, then you should be ok for the time being.

Looks like just about all the servers that aren't DMCA complaint have been shut down either by cutting of their funds or by forcing them with legislation to implement a DMCA mechanism

I use Newsdemon US server.. Odd that I haven't had a problem yet, using SABNZB and Sickbeard, mostly HD. I have Saix ad a backup though...

The sad thing is that if the content providers made the movies and shows available at a decent price, we would be paying them instead of news servers and all other manner of online storage / spoofing sites.

so maybe I have just been blind in the past, but they seem to have some kind of checking tool now?? I dont understand how one can check on ALL the providers?

can someone let me know what the best "3rd party" checker would be? Im thinking a add-on to Chrome or something?

i ran into this on saturday. was a bit upset. why dont the nzb people remove the dcma stuff?

Astraweb is known to respond to DMCA more quickly. I am on NewsDemon and movies as far back as 1200 days still work 100% (Batman being popular ones that needs to be reupped) so get yourself a block account (from another provider) when the DMCA hits.

Alternatively if you on a site where requests are made and you have a say, get your uploaders to rename the files uploaded so only the site in question knows what the content holds. It is only because the raw indexers allow you to see contents that the DMCAs get into effect so quickly.

NNTP is here to stay for a very long time as is FTP / IRC DCC (bless you) / HTTP / DC++ / torrents etc.

FYI Astraweb use a bot for their DMCA mails, thats why its so fast.

EDIT: Another FYI the giganews based providers are surviving better than the highwinds based ones, check this part out...

Thanks for the correction, i admit alot of changes have happened since i made that post and usenet is certainly not what it was a few months ago. I even lost my ND account for a reason that is unknown to me due to their T&C's not being allowed to say the reason why. "sigh" and i asked very nicely if they could be tell me heh.

Afaik, ND says on their site if you get another account (through standard methods mind you) then they will charge you a fee and terminate your service so just letting anyone else who falls into the same boat know :p.

Thanks for the TIP on the GN server, i will give them a try and if happy then willing to spend the extra premium :).

Edit: I see Mr Hoxbig has answered another query ;-), thanks bud. Another option to look at aswell :D.
