I it just me or is the DNS problem global? you know, when you click a link and fckall happens or you get a "Page cannot be displayed" or a "Connection to server www.myadsl.co.za failed (code 10048)" or "The document contains no data". Im getting annoyed with clicking links 3 or 5 times until they work...

This is happening on local and international stuff. And this is supposed to be fixed?

I know for a fact that it will be better if I reconnect. Why should I reconnect to improve my service? Then I have to reconnect to all my services (IM, IRC etc) which I dont think should be expected of a user. Then 5 minutes later it starts happening again..

Another thing.. In the old days when international was capped to your package.. if you were doing a multithreaded maxed out flatlining download and then did an international ping - the results would be consistenly 500ms or so as if there was no download running. Now if you do the same with the 48kbps flatline, pings are 3000ms - why is this? what is the difference between the package cap and 48kbps ?(obviously not just a matter of changing a numeric limit somewhere)

Okay - off the side theory. My first version of XP used to do that when I opened more than 9 IE browser windows. XP simply refused to allocate a new "connection" for the new browser window, and I had to close a browser window to get the new window to work.

How many services are you running at once that are using network resources ?

Dunno - I did have the problem, but another machine on the same network did not have that problem, it's gone now, something somewhere fixed it.

Theory - use it / dont.

The more you know - the worse it gets.

It does this on my Mac as well as my PC so it's a problem with the sentech network. But I am sure I am the only person on the planet in the history of the universe that has had this problem.

I guess it happens when im quite busy with my dialup international link and ask it to do more for me.. same crap with IE and Firefox. I (as usual) dont think its any fault of mine. But it seems a little better now.

Come to think of it GF, I had a similiar prob a while back. Think stoke's posting gave the ol' memory a little bump. Running shareaza at the time and got a lot of "page can not displayed". Closing all browser windows (I tend to "open in new window" a lot when reading these forums) and/or close p2p, problem sort of go away.

nah its a network issue. its not happening now and Im doing the same stuff as before. Currently I have 12 tabs open in my browser and some other stuff as well. I re-iterate: not my fault (actually NMP come to think of it)
