'Do away with private schools'

What they are really saying there is that people are not allowed to pay for their own education how they chose. A private school is essentially a business....you pay significantly higher school fees and you expect a service worth that money. For them to "do away" with private schools is to essentially nationalise a private industry.

Furthermore, they are essentially saying "government is unable to run schools properly, therefore all schools should be run by government." That's just spastic.

Thank you for putting into words exactly what I was thinking. Never forget, a private school is actuallly a business. They have no right dictating how the schools funding is spent short of the school adhering to base standards set by the Board of Education.

Stupid idea and a continuation of the ethos, " If I can't have it why should they? ".

The private and semi-private schools have extra resources because the parents pay high fees. Turn them into purely government schools and that disappears. At best the government would be able to steal whatever money the schools have saved up for future improvements.

And if Cosatu want to rescue the economy then sadly the best way is for them and the workers they typically represent to accept the fact that they're going to have to work harder and expect less. In all likelihood they will not benefit, but their children will. But they'll also need to teach their children that it is up to them to overcome their poor schools.

COSATU and the ANCYL just know how to rabble rouse and nothing else. They have the power to rally the voters to vote ANC and think they deserve some attention and say on policy in return but really they have no clue how to formulate implementable policy. So they hang around all day earning their salaries by dreaming up crap like this. Eish, private skools hev lawts off moneys so we must tek the private skools. Private schools are privately funded, hence the money morons. Take away the private bit and you don't have the money dumb ****s. All you've done is taken a good school and turned into another **** one retards. Good going **** for brains.

Seriously - is there a department of idiotic ideas that comes up with this kind of lunacy ?

What possible benefit could there be in abolishing private schools besides the fact that everyone will end up as stupid as the next.

Is there anybody - ANYBODY - in Cosatu or the ancyl that has a working brain cell and who is not still stuck in revolution mode !

I don't know but Cosatu have a professor who got his qualifications our of a lucky packet.

We have SOOOOOOO many schools in this country we will not miss a few.

Idiots.

No that is not socialism... neither is this.

This is an attack on free thinking. We must all think like the ANC, we must all end up in the same hole.

Define: Socialism

  • a political theory advocating state ownership of industry
  • an economic system based on state ownership of capital
  • various political philosophies that support social and economic equality, collective decision-making, and public control of productive capital and natural resources, as advocated by socialists
  • adherence to the theory social organization which believes the proprietorship and the authority of the means of production, capital, land, etc. should belong to the entire community.
  • The view that the government should own and control major industries
  • refers to a broad array of doctrines or political movements that envisage a socio-economic system in which the ownership of industry and the distribution of wealth are determined by the state or by agents of the state or the collective

If it looks like Socialism and smells like Socialism then....

Thanks for that handy definition.

If you haven't noticed we already have state run schools, most schools are state run. What they are saying is that all schools must be state run and there must be no private schools, that's called Fascism.

What they must remember is that during apartheid private schools provided a real education to people of colour. These people are now the people in control.

We owe our freedom to private schooling.

OK, you seem to have your political ideologies a bit mixed up... Fascists are typically very Right Wing.

The ANC government is very left wing.... more socialist or communist.

But have we not established that the ANC is so far left that they have ended up right?

Lets abolish private hospitals, toll roads, Telkom, Vodacom, Mercedes Benz and BMW while we are at it. Not everyone can afford those things (hint only government ministers can) so they need to go.

I suppose they basically want to "nationalise" private schools and turn them into government schools.. and then redistribute some of their funding to poorer schools? Not a great idea but not a terrible one either, some private schools (I've heard this of SACS at least) have more money than they know what to do with.

Oh, and that money will stay there once these schools get thrown to the dogs ? Why do you think that this idea has any merit whatsoever ???

No, this has all the typical indicators of a country on the brink of Classic Socialism. No more, no less.

If anyone here has not noticed the entire world is basically fascist, fascism is not what it seems, if we think about fascism we think about Nazi Germany. That is fascism in another form, but pure fasicms is based on the following simple definition:

"Fascists seek to organize a nation according to corporatist perspectives, values, and systems, including the political system and the economy."

Who owns the world today? Corporations! There are companies out there who make more profit than our entire country, there is no question that corporations run the world today.

Now the question is do we still have democracy today? What does political parties need to run their campaigns? Money! Where do they get their money from? Corporations! So who choose the candidates for president? The corporations! (This is of course a very simple proof, there is lots of information regarding this issue just google it)

Do we still have democracy today? It's just an illusion to keep the masses happy, but in theory we don't.

A huge part of fascism is to control the educational system, so it makes sense that they want to abolish private schools.

I truly believe we live in a fascist world, and after the American Goverment gave even more power to corporations after the economic crash two years ago it seems even more so.

This is of course just my opinion
