Do DJ's actually do something?

probably the best word player on the decks of steel

he did another set which completely blew me away, I'll try to post it another time when I find it

and the "roc raider" scratch was a dig at Roc Raider for events which unfolded the previous year

Been doing it for longer than 23 years, but not counting my years playing Industrial / EBM in the underground scene in the later 90's
Hmm I most likely know you. Now wife and I were part of the furniture on the scene back then. DJs I remember Emrick, Gary, Alan and Donvanne. Emmrick I saw later playing in London. Gary moved to Ireland last I heard. Alan Dubai or something. Donvanne no clue, she fell off the planet. This was early 2000s though.

moving slightly away from the turntablism and into sets, AMC is one of the best out there

for years people would critique him that he never mixes vinyl, and then this was his response, no beat syncing involved here, a pure analogue experience

also some of those twelves he was spinning is extremely expensive these days, some going on ebay for well over $100

And 1 cdj is more expensive than a Mac pro with Ableton live installed, where you have unlimited channels, effects and rhythmic goodies since it's a fully featured daw with a nice live performer thing built in.

I never really understood why Pioneer's are so ridiculous.
Do people run their DJ sets using their DAW's?

Sure. Most notably producers such as Paul van Dyk, Martin Stimming, deadamu5, Daft Punk and such forth.
I want to ask how, but it will just fly over my head. There's too much going on in Ableton. Too much to learn, it feels like.

You make it your own but generally you'd timewarp final recordings of your tracks and create the amount of channels you need (2, 4 or more) in the session view. Connect midi controllers and drag the tracks into the clips in session view as you go.

CloZee runs the whole thing in Ableton using a midi controller. Seeing as a lot of tracks are hers or remixes she's done I think she might have stems (various parts of the track like drums, vocals etc) isolated and launching them separately rather than just straight up switching between two tracks.
