Do I need to understand MWEB's Accepptable Use Policy?

To the best of my knowledge they did actually specify it at some point.
Not sure as to 384/512/1Mb but iirc 4Mb was 250GB average over a period of three months.

i was told verbally that it was around 30gig or a 384k line and then they want to see what you are up to.

I suspect that they will only invoke this when a person deliberately works around their usage policy, primarily the use of a proxy to bypass the torrent speed restrictions.

MWEB does not terminate on usage as they have said repeatedly in press statements and on these forums. Period. They terminate on contraventions of the AUP/T&C as they have said repeatedly on these forums and in the recent ASA ruling. Verbal comments are unverifiable and unprovable. We need something in writing by email or on these forums, especially from an non-/ex-MWEB user who regularly "trolls" MWEB-related threads, waiting for an opportunity to enlighten us all as to how evil MWEB is Many users, 384kbps users included, regularly download much more than 30GB per month.

Yes, this remains the bone of contention. MWEB will not release exact figures and limits. My understanding is that they won't do this because the implementation is dynamic and applicable over a period of time. If you download 24/7 over a secure VPN/SSL day after day, that's clearly in contravention. However, if you download HTTP files all day long for a few days, that's fine. If you do it again next month, that's also fine. If you do it for half the month, every month, for 6 months, maybe that's not fine. MWEB has said that they examine traffic usage patterns over a period of time. I think for that reason it is very difficult for them to indicate the thresholds, because it is dealt with on a case by case basis.
