Do not buy e-tags: Cosatu

What a pity. Now Cape Town will be sure to have them. Its R27,00 for the Huguenot Tunnel now

the thought to buy one has NEVER crossed my mind and NEVER will - Not one of my friends intends getting an e-tag either - forward with public disobedience!

Cosatu why don't you all go and F youselves?
You are the biggest mafia in the country so I really don't think you have any right to tell us anything.
You hijacked both marches !!
If you are so dead against corruption, tolls, and everything else the ANC does, why do you still support them??
You are no better!!
So sick of the moral high ground you want to take.
We will not support tolls because its the moral, right thing to do.

Why do you not just concentrate on the labour mess you have created?

forward with public disobedience!

IMHO it isn't civil disobedience if the people don't want it. This is an age old African problem of body of government not representing the people's interests (naturally their own interests are all that matter because they are royalty).

Not buying a tag does not = civil disobedience. Not paying your tolls however might well fall into that category. Anyhow I'm not buying one. That position ain't changing.

I guess this means marine1 will now buy an etag to avoid being seen to support COSATU:D. Only logical.

While I have no love for e-trolling, I don't mind the charge to go through the tunnel. Since tunnels are incredibly expensive to maintain, and the alternative route is considerably longer, R27 either way won't kill me.

I think I will buy an etag...

...and then see if it's dynamite-proof, like they used to do in that padlock adverty (Viro?)! lol

(Just need to go see my local Nigerian for fake ID and stuff, certainly wouldn't use my actual details!)

Clearly logic was not one of your strong points
Logic:
FACT: marine1 is vehemently opposed to anything COSATU pronounces on, advise or do.
COSATU have now advised users not to buy e-tags.
It therefore, logically follows that marine1 will now rush out and buy himself an e-tag to show his opposition to this COSATU advise
:D

How's that old chap? Logical enough or should I use maths?

Exactly right, it's not civil disobedience if the public is against it. It's then basically just fighting government corruption.

Lets just have a big old riot and break the tolls down...

Just for interest…

Don’t register! Don’t buy e-tags!” the Congress of SA Trade Unions said in a statement.

Does this mean that they will be liable for all damages including possible income generated by the e-tolls?

Buying the etag is optional. How can they be held liable for something that is optional?

Reason being I always thought that Unions would be applicable for damages cause by them, mostly interfering with or opposing legislation. They got away every time since they did not instigate strikes, acted unlawfully or “knowingly caused” harm according to them and the people…

What I’m suggesting with the e-tolls is that they are encouraging people to not register / buy e-tags. No problem with this, since I’m also against e-tolls. But’s should the public be liable for not participating in e-tolls can Cosatu be liable for this, carry the weight of such burden?

And to what extend is optional, will this not become a requirement?
