DO NOT USE CYBERSMART!

Honestly if your line drops (I assume you mean loses sync) how can it be the ISP's fault ?

All I can tell you is that I was with Afrihost and Axxess, and my line never dropped. I then moved to cybersmart for their weekender and it dropped all weekend, but never during the week. They then switched me to a night rider and all of a sudden my line started dropping as evenings approached as well as weekends. I got tired of it, so I switched back to Axxess and bam not another dropped line. - so make of that as you will.... I cant see it being anything but the isp

Before moving to Cybersmart I was with Telkom and my connection was very good. Nightrider is what tempted me, but I really wish I had not moved.

I can ONLY fax my cancellation letter, nothing else is accepted..... man they do make life difficult..... type, print, sign, scan, email to mum, print, fax to both fax lines to make sure they receive it, wait till the end of next month with fingers crossed to see if anyone actually honoured the cancellation letter...... They make it difficult for their customers to leave, but they must want to leave in their droves.....after all "How do I Cancel?" is number 6 in their top 10 faq's (http://faq.cybersmart.co.za/)

....an internet company that only accepts faxes.....lol

The fact is that most ISP's big and small need to understand that should they wish to grow their customer base; their procedures should be efficient and their client service of the highest standard.

I must say I am most impressed with WebAfrica, only with an occasional issue with one of their agent’s lack of understanding on the English language.

I would have expected a lot more considering how huge their customer base is.
Generally speaking they have done a fantastic job since rolling out Uncapped. There will always be the occasional unhappy customer. That is just the nature of the beast.

In my opinion 1 unhappy customer is 1 too many...

Warren is very rude. I had cybersmart some time back when I had a 384k line still and he said that latency of 100ms for a 384k is fine and that I can't expect anything better. When I told him I get better latency with IS he started getting rude saying that customers may not use any other ISP's while using cybersmart.

The support guys always "think" they know more than the customer making you feel like you are really dumb even though your knowledge is more than likely better than theirs.

Cybersmart Suck... End of story. God forbid I ever use them again!

Typical behavior of many a service/support consultant in South Africa.

I get so angry when they try to patronize you like that.

I was considering using them for our website hosting but now I will stay well clear of them. Thanks for the topic

Aah, so I am not the only person...

I recently moved house, and now 4 months later, I still have problems with the Telkom / Cybersmart deal...

Firstly, Telkom couldn't install a new line because there was no numbers available.
I asked them to move my existing number then, seeing that I moved about 1km further (same exchange).
Telkom came to my house and installed a new telephone number and activated ADSL(which I did not ask for).
Then Cybersmart activated my ADSL on the line.
I paid both Telkom and Cybersmart for the circuit rental.
Finally 2 months and 18 days later my ADSL was working at the new house on a new telephone number.

I once sent an email and decided to copy Laurie in the email, and his response was not what I expected from a CEO of an ISP... quite rude tbh...

Now during this process, I spoke to Warren, and I have to agree his is so rude. Also, their Support centre consists of like 3 people, I always speak to the same people. When you send in a ticket, they reply back 2 - 3 days later... this is not acceptable...
And when they reply, it looks like a Grade 3 person wrote the email... every heard about grammar and spelling and at least being nice.

I sent an email about my incorrect billing, and got something back like "no your wrong we did your billing right becos you pay pro rata"... I mean....... seriously......

I always say, you don't rate a company by how good their services work, but by how they handle the situation when things DO NOT work... So Cybersmart is not a GOOD ISP because their ADSL works when it's on, but they're a terrible company when it comes to resolving issues whens they happen...

So now, 4 months later, and Telkom has 3 addresses of mine on their account.... one is my old address, and the other 2 I have never heard of or lived at... they have completely thumb sucked some address... 4 months later and they STILL cannot get it right... apparently my house does not exist... WTF???? And now Cybersmart has to request my address change because they have the ADSL circuit???????

aaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.... i get upset every time I think about this....

Not to mention their T&C's are antiquated in this day and age.

if i may add my 2 cents...

while i was with cybersmart... warren was probably the only helpful person with a sound knowledge of what was going on through my various support requests

let me add my 2c too.. every ISP has problems with certain clients, there's enough of it on these forums for sure. I'm with Cybersmart, and so are around 65 of my clients (90% business users) and believe me, we've not had any problems with them at all. In fact, I find everyone there to be extremely helpful, and if i do have a hassle, its very easy to get it sorted out.

+2, Until MWEBS came with their ridiculous "uncapped" accounts I was a happy Cybersmart user. The R539 uncapped account was too good to resist and I made the move. The most I've ever used in a month is still 298gigs and it was achieved on a Cybersmart account with Nightrider and Weekender add ons. Total cost including line rental was R1258 for that particular package. Wish I was still on it... :o...

people getting brain washed to think its worth paying R1258 to download 300 gigs of data.. fooking hard drive doesn't cost that much.

What did u download that u had to pay R1200 for it? Dare you actually watch the movis/porn or play the games or listen to the music or what?

If you sent this time in learning a new skill you would've been wealthy enough to afford the real thing :P

Thats just my new outlook on downloading all kinds of crap. If u need it fine, but dont just download stuff coz u have bought uncapped. wena

bit of a lame comparison, would be same as to say that why do people spend 1K+ on petrol when the petrol tank doesn't cost that much.

it's only the package price which is relevant, because you have to pay telkom for the 4 meg line speed and telkom line rental whether you like it or not.

where do i sent my time to learn new things ?

bit of a sour cap user there i detect, because you can't ?

hahaha, people getting brainwashed thinking it's worth paying R29 to download 1...

All the series/music/games/porn I needed, was actually 500gigs over 2 months and then I migrated to MWEB and canceled with Cybersmart. So R2.5k including line rental and I went in got what I needed and got out.. R5.06 per gig INCLUDING line rental...

If you sent this time in learning a new skill you would've been wealthy enough to afford the real thing :P
Well, thanks to the lesson you've just received you now know R29 per gig is not all that cheap .. kwasia...
