WTF, so the Delta Motor Corporation of South Africa Opel Monza 160i GSi Car of the Year 1991, of great historical significance, gets written off and the is worried about the usage of mobile phones?! :wtf:

I guess moving forward he should get something that matches his name :

I actually hope that P.O.S is the one that got crammed. Should have been removed from the road many years ago

I agree, it should be removed from the road and placed in a museum for all to appreciate the historical significance. :D

Only if that museum pays for the priviledge... can't have saturnz rolling with a R100 phone anymore, its not suitable for someone who owns such a magnificent vehicle.

So if you crash into it, surely it should give you some kind of special power? I mean apart from the full might and power of the law that will be served to you courtesy of satrunz lawyer ?

What saturnz didn't tell you is that R100 phone is actually a Chinese knockoff of the historically significant Nokia 3310 (widely considered to be one of the best phones ever made). And though the knockoff doesn't have any of the legendary durability of the 3310, it is a knockoff that resembles the phone, making it historically significant. He calls it a R100 phone, but buyers will easily spend upwards of R3 trillion rand on one (Ghaddafi was rumoured to want to purchase it and even sent the funds through first as a geture of good faith).

I'm only covered for third party insurance

The car that was written off today with pump fuel & methanol makes well over 250kw/370nm on the wheels, with AVGAS & methanol 350kw/450nm reliably.

In a car that weighs a ton.

It is my experienced view that the car will be written off, the rear has a huge chunk in, the front a huge chunk in. The repair will be atleast 25k from just looking at the labour from a normal spray and the parts that require replacing- and thats just the cosmetic parts including the front and rear bumper, bonnet, fender, rear passenger skin.

I'm under no illusion that the book value of this car is not even close to 30k, I wouldn't be surprised if it was under 20k, so there is a very strong chance it will be written off. Its not only my view the car will be written off, others have seen the damage.

By the way where my cars are stored, that workshop's main income is from insurance work, the owner of that workshop came to see the car and its also his view the car will be written off, this is a guy that works with assessors on a daily basis.

Why would insurance right off a car that they didn't insure? Surely that's your call? And cosmetic damage doesn't stop a car from driving, if it still goes you can still drive it? Or is the chassis damaged?

Ahhh yes, I hadn't considered that....

Well we've located Gadaffi's good faith payment to saturnz. We just need to get the Hawks on board to finally distribute the funds to their rightful owner.

okay I met with the lawyer this morning

He feels the guy who drove into the back of me is at fault, the fact that I indicated or not cannot be proven and is not material as there is quite a bit of time from when I turn into the lane and when the collision happened.

The lawyer also suspects the driver was doing something other than keeping his eyes on the road infront of him.

When someone drives into the back of your car it is usually deemed to be their fault. The question now is what do you want to do with this info?

I need to get a value of the damage to my car and recover the costs from the person responsible.

Makes not an ounce of difference what the lawyer suspects. This is why we have courts, and a requirement for evidence, for which you have none. So unless the lawyer is going to subpoena the records for the cellphone in question and go down a path of proving the phone was within the triangulation points near the vicinity, all for a few grand, this entire line of thought is pointless...
