Do the e-toll mathematics, minister

When writing an article about fail anything, make sure that your own article doesn't contain any fail.
the estimated annual volume of petrol and diesel sold in SA amounts to R22.9bn litres (R11.7bn petrol and R11.3bn diesel)

Complex numbers

Please note that these sums involve multiplication and division. In order to explain the numbers to government these concepts need to be replaced with simpler operations like addition and subtraction. And don't get fancy with interest calculations either.

SCAMRAL LIES

http://www.energy.gov.za/files/media/media_SAVolumes.html
11,925,053,682 liters for Q1+Q2
Gauteng uses +30% of SA fuel.

2 years ago, when the DA proposed a Fuel levy, SCAMRAL got their economist shills to produce BS that it would be R3.65/l or more.
Once you know how much is consumed in ZA, doing the maths is simple and we can easily see that it's 8c-10c/l

Depending on what GFIP cost R6.8b, R18b, R24b, less the bail out of R5.8b (May 2008)
8c-10c per liter would easily pay for GFIP in less that 10 years.
Even if you only applied the 10c levy to Gauteng, it would be paid of in less that 20 years.
