Do These Tyres Need Replacing

I think those pricing is actually quite good for 2 tyres for that size.

I bought 2 GY Excellence tyres, same size but with W rating, from Jacks tyres for R820 each. This was 4 months ago.

Have you swopped the rear and front tyres around before? It's good to swop them around mid-life, because the rear tyres lasts longer, it means you almost double the life of your tyres. Ofcourse then when you replace tyres you have to replace 4 at once and not just 2.

I have actually never had them rotated :(
But should have had it done! But now if i am only replacing the front 2, should i have them moved to the back ? And have the back tyres moved to the front?

If the car is FWD always keep the best tires at the front as this is where you want the most grip. Also if you do rotate your tires don't cross rotate them, always left rear to left front and right right to right front, not left rear to right front and right rear to left front. This is because most modern tires have a specific direction of rotation and if you cross rotate them they won't be turning in the correct direction.

I prefer to just keep my tires as they are so I don't have to replace 4 at a time.

Thanks for thei info everyone.
Was thinking i can also use my spare tyre - which is still brand new. But all tires have 4208 on them, meaning made in 42nd week of 2008. So i am not sure if expired?

The ones you have on will still last a couple of months depending on how much you drive, so save up and replace both of them.

Tires expire 4 years after manufacture.

yes. you cannot put a price on your life for a few tyres that cost a couple of thousand. put new tyres on your veheecle. listen now ok.

When it comes to tyres I would rather replace them with plenty of tread left than no tread at all. Made that mistake once and never again.

Pretty sure the cops only fine if the tread is less than 1mm on a car and less than 2mm for a bike

I have the same car, got some crazy quotes when I had to change tyres. Eventualy opted for Falken tyres which imo gives the same feel and grip as the Contis. Had mine fitted at Janjira in Rylands if you are in Cape Town.
