Many experts have warned that the next major crisis in South Africa will be the supply and availability of clean water. Do you have a backup water system to mitigate this?

I have a pump in the garage, waiting to be connected to the main house. Have 1x 5KL tank, planning on adding a second.

It won't be drinking water, but can be used in the case where our water goes out for extended periods, to shower and so on.

If I do have extra funds towards the end of the year, I'll see what a borehole will set me back and then use the tanks a buffer in between.

How many people in your household ?

I don't have a clean one but could easily modify what I currently have to supply the house.
Its a rain and grey water system with a pump, we use it for watering the garden in the off season.

There hasn't been a need for a while but would upgrade the tank as its only 2.5 l

I foresaw this issue esp in my area where we had no water for over 2 weeks and before that there was constant outages for few days at a time.
Went big and put in a borehole with tanks and filtration system and haven't had any buyers remorse even though cost was very high..
I'm just annoyed that this is what life has turned out to be in SA where we have to do all these things, whats next sewage system will fail and we will have to have a backup for that also??

Voted other, yes, using for laundry and irrigation.

Just need to connect to a filtering system and then plumb into the house, after which it will be used for showers and bathrooms.

I am planning to go with a similar setup as per @HunterNW.

And you want 10000 litres water backup ?
We're 4 and a 2500litre Jojo lasted us a week.
I live in the Kouga region. Our dams are 13% combined. All it takes is a little influx over a holiday. I'm just prepping for if I have to go off the water grid.

I told you where i bought my system ? Got 2 new filter sets last week, they are definitely the cheapest.
After 6 weeks my filters wasn't that dirty - just sediment.

That's a kak spot. Even for Gretha.
Earlier this year our usable water dropped to 6-7% and it was quite scary
