I have a 2013 Silverback GT hardtail, @Pineapple Smurf, I paid R5300 for it at the bike shop in Kuils River. So yes, it was to me very expensive, but a handle bar price to some cyclist's.

Yes, here is mine.

I purchased this one in the UK when I was there for a course. I paid probably >R20K less for it there than what I would have paid for it here in SA. It was the cycle store's "End of range, last season's stock" which was sold at big markdowns.
