Dig my O365 subs. I've had a Home subscription for several years now. Since 2013/14 or so if not longer.
Works great for the family and I (parents & sibling included). The 1Tb of One Drive is great. MSFT did it for me when they made Office available everywhere and online too.

It's brilliant. I've tried GDocs and OpenOffice, LibreOffice.

Yes, I now have a mobile office and don't have to worry about backups as everything is synced to OneDrive and saved on cloud. Space of 1tb makes the Microsoft Office subscription at a price most can afford monthly. Another plus is their support with chat on line has been excellent so far.
 
I use my work account. Don’t know what I would do if that was not available, would probably subscribe for the 1TB storage.

That's a unique situation to be in I think. I can't be in a situation where I can't correctly open any documents sent by a client.

And as below, 365 is so cheap man. May as well just enjoy the best office suite and 1TB OneDrive storage for a few bucks a year.

Firstly, free office apps don't touch the power of MS Office so not everyone can make do with them.

Secondly, LibreOffice is better than OpenOffice so get on the correct free solution.

Third, is R200-350 on OLX or Gumtree for a year of 365 really too much for you? Seems like the deal of the century when you're getting 1TB OneDrive storage and the best office apps available, incl the unbeatable Outlook.

You can save a lot of money on your Office 365 sub by buying off OLX and Gumtree. There are almost always people selling a year for R200-350.

What is it with you people and OpenOffice? I don't rate any free office suite, but for years LibreOffice has been regarded as the best of them.

Also, as I mentioned above, is R200-350 for a year of Office 365 that doesn't just include all the latest apps but also 1TB OneDrive storage (which has amazing Windows 10 integration) really too much?

Don't understand the stinginess in this thread. If O365 isn't worth a few hundred a year then is there anything on Earth worth spending money on in your eyes?

Google Play Music/Deezer/Apple music sub and extra Google Drive space if needed but I don't need it yet.

Upload videos to private Youtube channel
Documents to Google Drive in gdocs/gsheet/gslide format.
Ebooks and PDF books to Google Play Books (1gb free space)
Music to Play music (50 000 songs free)
Photos in Google Photos free (compression is good enough)
etc.
 
Office 365 is great to have cloud storage, up todate MS software, possibly a bit pricey. Why not pay for so many uses?

I totally support a universal office file format, but I'm deeply sceptical that Microsoft will adopt any standard that Google tries to establish. They have a serious competitive advantage in how only their software can properly open current Office files. Makes no sense from their perspective to allow any consumer the ability to effortlessly migrate between office suites.

I also use Play Music, and the little they don't have that is relevant to me has long since been uploaded.

I wasn't saying that productivity is impossible without Office 365 - only that it's such amazing value for money that it makes no sense not having a subscription. Heck, just Outlook and the 1TB storage make it worth it even if you don't use the other apps much or don't require any compatibility with industry standards.

Are you guys reading the thread? I've said several times that you can buy a year of Office 365 for R200-350 on Gumtree or OLX, almost always.

Seriously? Just go to any of Microsoft's websites, try login and click the password recovery option. Forgetting a password hasn't been a thing for decades now.

Also, use a password manager. I recommend LastPass.
 
I bought a license for 1 year, but as a UNISA student entitled to a free license.
