@McTI have decided to stay out of this thread - and that includes @Venomous quoting me. My absence of decently spec work laptop is hurting me emotionally![]()
Yeah pretty stupid. Most of the major corps lease them anyway so it's a guaranteed ~2 year cycle (or whatever).Nope.
My company is too cheap to get us new equipment.
My laptop is over 5 years old, and some staff members are using laptops even older.
As a division netting 130 million a year, it's pretty penny wise and pound foolish if you ask me.
General responsiveness improves. Plus as I said less headaches about HDD data corruption from shocks.How will an SSD improve things at work if you work for a large corporation?
Not necessarily. The main app we use has a local SQL as backend. Database round 5 gigs generally...so not big but enough to feel a benefit from SSD. Theft...whether the thing costs a couple grand more isn't going to change the risk?Most things are loaded off the network, and SSD's would just be a prime target for theft anyway.

Yup. Such a big difference upgrading to a ssd.
haha...yes my employer has 100k+ people running around with laptops so yes I know all about large corporations. I didn't mean external/personal HDDs...corporate issued laptops with HDDs. Deploy enough of those to people that run around with them and you get serious data corruption issues.No. As I said before, I am talking about a large corporation. Anyone who is saving data on their own HD deserve to be shot. Plus, with all the cyber-crime and data theft out there, they will most likely be fired if any data is lost or stolen.
@McT
Hey!!!
I work for the worst person one could possibly work for!
The least that could happen is that I have fun toys to slave away on...![]()
