There are many different types of drones. Toy drones are easy to fly, and commercial drones are also easy to operate. FPV racing drones, on the other hand, takes significant time to master.

BIL builds and flys FPV racing drones that a different kettle of fish altogether!
 
practice makes perfect, and if you practice even flying a cheapy Chinese syma/Syma clone drone, you eventually graduate to something bigger and more expensive.

Used to before Covid. Was mainly used to do aerial photography of some of our buildings in and around Sandton. After flying too close to the US embassy and being surrounded by like 5 men in black (earpiece, shades, gun, the whole shebang) asking why I am flying here, wanting to confiscate the drone etc. I decided to rather pay someone with a proper license to do the photos for us.
 
Did a short training thingie because of insurance and also to get the drone registered in some countries for recreational flying permission in some restricted areas.
 
Well enough to have made some money off it.
 
Flew RC aeroplanes and RC helicopters. Drones are simple compared, until you fly them unrestricted!
 
Yep, I build and fly FPV drones in full acro mode. Zero auto leveling. Flying it any other way is boring.
