A firearm is the best equalizer. If a group of criminals are trying to get into your house a firearm even the odds.
A woman with a firearm and trained in using it can fend of a attacker or attackers double her size.

A firearm can prevent a person becoming a victim. Everyday in the news innocent unarmed victims are murdered in cold blood. A firearm gives you a fighting chance. Obviously being a trained FA user is important. Avoiding dangerous situations, be aware of your surroundings.

At your house you should have motion beams outside , cctv camera, alarm, dogs etc. Your FA should be your last line of defense to protect your or your families life from life threatening danger.

The KZN riots was an eye opener for everyone. SAP or defense force could not contain the riot. It was 100% stopped by armed civilians defending peoples life. Even Ramaposa thanked the kzn armed public.

Just the KZN riots should be a clear sign to be a proficient and responsible gun owner.
 
An unarmed neighbor phoned me one night telling me someone is breaking into there house. His wife was on the other line waiting for the police.
As i run to his gate i was met by the criminal storming at me wielding a screwdriver shouting "i kill you". After pulling a firearm he stopped immediately.
I instructed him to drop the big rusty screwdriver and get down on the ground. He complied. I could detain a guy double my size while we waited for the police to arrive and detain the suspect. The suspect was arrested. No one got hurt and no shots fired. Being unarmed could have changed this story to another number on the statistics.

A FA is like insurance. You don't want it but you are thankful when you need it.

Thats great, you got lucky.

The next one may have a gun. If you go looking for trouble, especially with a gun, you are going to find it

I have been in 2 armed robberies. Every situation is different and treated in a different way.
You evaluate and make a choice based on protecting your life or someone else life.

Please explain how was he the one looking for trouble?
Your logic doesn't make any sense.

He didn't invite the criminal POS over, that POS made his own decisions, to attack innocent people.

How many people will do what he did for his neighbour ?
 
Competency done this week, any info from the guys in the know around motivation for self defence?

Is it possible to motivate if you have not been a victim of crime recently?

Always include crime stats and articles of crime from around your area. Also helps if you can motivate using your job as a reason, eg travel to remote areas etc.

Would be great if we could use the riots as a reason for motivation :/
 
I cant recall where i got the data from but i had crime stats for my area.. Said i drove around late at night in remote areas and often had to drive past or through areas that have had unrest in the past.(which in reality is just about everywhere thrse days...)

Depends on the neighbour. I have a few around me. There's one who I'll probably leave be, and just hope for the best. Then there's two who I'd jump the wall for (well, I'd walk around, because the electric fence would get me) and then there's one for whom I'll stick to the long guns only.

At my previous place I also had neighbours who I'd jump the wall for, and they for me. I hope there are still some people who will come to the aid of neighbours when they ask for it.
