The bow is not really for self protection, but for hunting. I can however use is if I have enough time, which as you rightly pointed out I will ten to one not have. I walk in my sleep (a lot) so a firearm at the ready is not quite something I feel comfortable with.

I would love to get a hunting bow, but I love shooting from a distance way too much. I tend to stalk the animals I don't intend to hunt, and then whack my quarry from 300m away.

In my mind, unless I really like the neighbour, or they are the proverbial defenseless old lady, I'm not risking my freedom, finances and life because they just couldn't bother to be prepared and get their own legal firearm. People really need to take responsibility for themselves. You are talking months or years of legal drama, and hundreds of thousands or millions in legal fees.

You need to be 100% clear in your mind of when you'll use a a firearm and when you won't. True life or death situation, no problem, and no hesitation. Saving the neighbour's TV from a fleeing robber. Not a chance in hell.
 
I got one as soon as I heard our president say that we should not have access to guns. I have read enough about history to know that when a politician says you shouldn't have a gun, it means that you need a a gun.
 
My Glock renewal was handed in on 17 Aug. Let's see how long it takes.
Getting friendly with the peeps at the local cop shop. Handed in my comp renewal recently. Got my license for the 6.5x55 last year this time. Uhhm gonna hand in another app for the new 6.5x55 again shortly.

To be honest, a renewal shouldn't concern you, as long as you did your part, keep the relevant receipt with you if and when you do EDC / travel etc.. If they take two years, it's two years that you "score" so to speak, because those two years will be added on.
