I'm considering getting the Norinco Type 56.

Would you recommend it and please provide some feedback on it
Norinco value for money and quality is your best option. There pressed receiver is thicker than most. Parts are easy to find. They are as reliable as the real Russian version.

I don't own one but a late friend did and I got to shoot it a few times. Easy to operate and take apart and re-assemble. Ammo at the time was cheap but not sure now. And these weapons are inexpensive it seems. Just a quick google shows they go for under 10k.

Thanks guys for the valued feedback. I'm almost sold on it as I have been doing some research on it.

I need to possibly try firing with it first to make a final decision.

Then need to look for a good deal around KZN

I was an IDIOT when I applied for my competency, did the training on all 4 weapons but when I applied I only ticked Handgun. 4 years later and now I am in the process for applying for competency AGAIN

Application handed in on 28/08/2023 and still waiting for ref number, I know it can take a week or 2 depending on when the DFO actually takes the forms to Brooklyn.

Does anyone know what the waiting time currently is?

Yeah, that was a rookie mistake.

I am currently waiting for comp renewal. Sitting at 105 calendar days. Been stuck at "In Process at CRC" now since 20 July 2023. No movement in more than a month. DFO tuned me to give it another 2 weeks or so if still stuck we should hand in the comp renewal again.

Will have to wait and see.

His Type 56 video:

Man I love this old toppie, especially when he hits that gong.

Voted other. I am a dangerous weapon..

This I believe is however a very old poll (link) (as per results page; "created on the 15th of February 2023")

My guess is they forgot to setup a closing/ expiry date for this poll, that's why it's still currently active.
Anyways, if you haven't voted, please take a minute or two and do so. The link is below.
