Apple Watch series 1, didn't need the waterproof function of series 2. The Apple Watch works really well for everything smart watch needs to do.

Series doesn't need the phone for GPS so better from a fitness perspective. Or so I am lead to believe ...

Have a LG watch R that I wear daily. Tells me when someone is calling (I leave my phone on silent) and when I leave my phone behind (when out of bt range). Android wear 2.0 crippled it somewhat - it's a lot slower than it used to be.

yep, i wore it for a week or so after upgrade, and it was just. so. sluggish.

I think the fit bands are cool so I ordered one.
Those bulky smartwatches are not.

The Gear S2/S3 is not bulky

I won't upgrade any time soon though. I think smart watches have a long way to go before they actually become useful.

I got the Pebble2 HR off the kickstarter campaign. I love it, you do need your phone for Endomondo to work, but I used the phone before I got the watch.
The battery life is great and takes 1 ½ hours to charge. The different watchfaces you can download are great.

I find them to be to too thick and obstructive. The Gear 3 is 13mm thick.

It hasn't seen much use.
The frequent recharges are a major downer.

IMO you should be glad that it did not get Wear 2.0 it made my watch very slow.
