Dolo. Doing schit on your own. Not rolling deep. Solo.

Used in a sentence: "Usually I'm dolo, but I got a crazy team."

How many of you, if ever, go out to bars, pubs or nightclubs by yourself?

I've done it a couple of times and it is not too bad. Only once did I go home a miserable bastard because I never spoke to anyone, but generally I end up speaking to a whole bunch of different people. The only issue is, my neck of the woods has a high number of steroid infused recent school leavers that are always up for a fight, so you have to be on your toes as a bit of aggro can come your way.

GF is away at the mo' so I often go to one or both of my two locals solo. Know everyone at the one pub and the other is a bit of a meat locker so parties both sides. I don't encounter too many rambo types but if I do, it will mostly be at the meat locker where bouncers generally prevent anything.

True, bouncers are quick to sort issues out. My only concern is the pack - they don't fight mano e mano, more like trés mano e mano - waiting outside. I've seen a few guys come up short oustide if they're outnumbered. By the time the bouncers get there they've taken a few klaps.

I got no issue going out on my own - pub usually - don't do clubs.
Never really run into any brawls - most times the night ends up on booze infused laughter session with a few strangers - or I just keep to myself and enjoy the music.
Movies, almost all the time, I prefer to go alone, as I hate idle chatter from the person you're with - especially if its a movie you're really keen on.

Haven't been into the clubbing scene for many years, but I do a lot of things on my own.

I do confess the only thing I have an issue with is dining solo in a restaurant. I do it, but it just feels weird .. like kissing your sister

Haven't done the club/pub thing solo but I had to dine in a restuarant once solo due to a (very) delayed flight. Turns out the lady at the next table was doing the same so we had quite a chat anyway but it was something like 3 hours I needed to kill.

I have done it before and its strange how much more social I become when I'm alone. When I'm with friends I rarely talk to anyone else but alone I strike up a conversation with everyone.

That I do too - but it never feels weird. In fact, some of the best meals I have had have been by myself. You can gouge, eat with your hands, slurp your beer and lick your plate. Yummy!

Well, I haven't been to a full on club on my own, but more like restaurants that turns into a club after 8ish.

Only once have I had grief from 3 guys because the woman the chief roider was interested in was instead interested in me, so he got the rage with me. The rest of the time though, as you have experienced, I met a whole bunch of folks.

Me, I used to do it all the time. I even go to trance parties on my ace. Always end up meeting friends though. Not planned, just happens. I am spontaneous when I am alone and when I get the urge to go out, I just do.

Maybe switch watering holes? :p
Otherwise I think that subliminally, you want to start your very own nieghbourhood Fight Club :D

Problem is it is about the only decent - and that isn't saying much - place near by. The other options are a good trip away, so I go there for proximity.

And true, maybe I am giving of a bit of aggro myself. Or too much confidence. :p

Travel a lot for work and even when I'm at home I go out to pubs, restaurants, places of interest etc. by myself.

I do enjoy meeting new people, so far I've found that the younger and much older generations seem to be a lot more open to talking to a stranger, it's best to engage the guys in a group first, a shabeen is always fun, people in JHB North/PTA can be seriously racist, Cape Town tends to be cliquey but awesome once you're "in", Free State has ridiculously friendly people, UK people put the Free State people to shame, don't attempt to communicate using translation tools in a foreign country and when trouble comes politely bow out regardless of how wrong the other guys is...

...And most importantly smile!
