Yup going on 30 years of nicotine addiction. Totally over to vaping in the past years. Also the fact a box of smokes are 8.50 euro here (R180 odd at current exchange) helped stay off the stinkies.

Starting smoking, perhaps the worst choice of younger me.

Yep, if I could go back in time I’d pay 12-year old me a visit and have a quiet word…

Very easy to say in hindsight, unfortunately.

i never ever tried it - it irritates me and buggers up my eyes even sitting next to someone who is smoking .... i don't try to stop them since it is their choice but really most of the time anyone smoking near me is my exit cue especially if it happens indoors - sometimes though in wide open breezy spaces its less irritating

but yeah - i definitely never started and looking at cigarette prices now i'm very happy i did not

I don't smoke. I've never even tried it. I've always thought it's a disgusting habit. I know I would never date someone that smokes. I've worked with smokers and the smell of cigarettes permeates their clothes. Not to mention the thought of kissing an ashtray.
Not for me, thanks.

No - also stopped drinking at the start of the year.

I do encourage those who do smoke to carry on - smoke more - die, we need the space.

Nope... However, I did try it while I was in university (cigarettes and weed).

I smoke. 1-2 packets a day. On busy days a bit more. Love smoking. It smells and taste great for me. Non-smokers and those who do not like it, are not welcome at my place and for the biggest part can simply f**k off. I do not complain about their habits and they should not complain about mine. I do not walk around telling all the people how their crackholes or private parts stink when they walk around or sit in the office so they have no need to discuss my smells either.

Stopped smoking 5 years ago and while I don’t crave it at all I still take in a whiff when I walk past someone smoking because unlike other ex-smokers I actually like the smell.

Stale smoke on people’s clothes and hair is still a nope, though. It was only after I quit that I realised how everything stank.

I don't give a crap what smokers think, I will always be vocal in that it is a digesting habit on every level.

If you're offended you can sod off.

Precisely how I feel. You don't like it, you can sod off. Just because you dont like it, does not mean I must too.

Guessing I've been enjoying smoking for well over a decade now, can't remember.

Still enjoying it, especially the social aspect with mutual smokers and doubly so when drinking, still can't properly describe "kuier" in English

Also love disposable vapes, but more for their flavour than anything else.

I smoke 20 cigarettes a day. I started smoking when I was very young. It is a medication I treat smoking as a form of medication.

I can focus while smoking, my concentration is second to none after a cigarette. Is it bad for me? Yes, it is. That said I was on antidepressants and the side effects were really bad. Doctors don't always tell us this but antidepressants are actually dangerous. I was in a really dark place and I couldn't see a way out. It was like reality was clouded and just dark. I couldn't think properly. My decision-making at the time was very bad.

Once I lost my employment and wasn't able to afford the medication. My life actually improved. I will stick with smoking cigarettes for now. They are the lesser of two evils. I still run, I still exercise I do all these things. I am fit I do smoke less most days. Sometimes when I am not stressed I go without smoking for months at a time. But it is a medication and like any medication it can be addictive.

It’s one of two things happening in your brain.

1. You’re ending your withdrawal. For now.
2. Every time you smoke, your brain releases dopamine. Smoking rewires the pathways in your brain after a while to make an action that is effectively killing you pleasurable. Pretty ****ed up.
