Local SPCA (NOT NSPCA - they are an overpaid bunch of money-grabbers) and a charity shop with clothes and occasionally food.

And as above, the government!

Not a charity as such, but a community project; basically where I grew up there's an indoor football place/ rooftop market that I'm involved in. So we try get enough people to rent stalls, run the various leagues, referees, volunteers, also like admin support - so we'll try help you put your CV together, apply for jobs, bursaries etc. It's fun and rewarding but man there is just way too much HR/ political stuff that goes on. Stacy doesn't want the stall next to Tracy, PC United are complaining they get too many late games (they don't by the way), AC FC are behind on their fees but it's because Joe's dad lost his job, Mike is using the wifi to watch porn etc
 
donate through my Insurance company Naked, to the woof project,
something I do believe in, as Animals shouldn't suffer because of Human arrogance and incompetence and stupidity.

otherwise, hand out food every so often to beggars I see, don't give them ever in a million years money, as they just go buying drugs with that.
 
Nope. If I have any time, things or money to give I’ll give directly to people I know that could do with it. Charities are a farce based on my experience with them.

Not really charities, but I do donate to Open-source software sometimes of stuff that I use all the time.

Personally, I don't believe in giving to an organisation without getting anything in return - even if it's just a bit of effort from their side.
Eg, I wouldn't give to x-charity begging in front of Pick 'n Pay, but I'd be happy to take part and pay at a golf day or event hosted by x-charity with the idea of raising funds.

Here and there.... should probably do more.

I have been meaning to find a really well managed homeless shelter and make regular contributions.
 
GF does 2-3 Santa Shoeboxes a year, I buy an item or 2. Also, there's this guy at my local street corner....

I think it's a fine line and balancing act. I work for an non profit NGO and there is a huge difference in accepting donations and just handing it out to beneficiaries in cash or food parcels vs actually empowering them.

We are an accredited higher education institution offering a bachelors qualification with over 400 students currently enrolled and over 95% of them fully sponsored by donations from companies and individuals. This includes textbooks and a chromebook as well as a basic daily meal on campus. I think we are the only non profit higher education provider in the country.

Animal welfare and NSRI? Not sure if that counts. I also make monthly contributions to SARS via direct deduction from my salary.
