Wife got one as a prezzie a few months back. Smallish unit from her sister. Used it every day to make quick snacks for kids adn the like.

Then she discovered Airfryer Tik Tok and bought a 2nd larger unit. 90% of our meals are now air fryer based

needs some research
watch a whole bunch of youtube reviews, that's what put me off the idea, better still watch them do a meal that you would specifically be interested in doing and you know how to do without an air fryer

almost without fail everything they cook gets done in a longer timeframe than the conventional method e.g. French fries deep fried (literally a few minutes with a crispy result) vs air fry (more like 20min and still "slaptjips")

the result is also just not the same, common advice I've seen to obtain more crispiness with an air fryer: "oh just drizzle some oil on" ... sorry WTF? so still using oil and using more time

no thanks, cooking is not that hard, seriously

and to all those with the common retort of "oh they just don't know how to do it right" ... sure, every single f-ing youtube reviewer, hundreds of them, just can't figure it out, you alone cracked the code

You are missing the point completely. Never has it been said that you cannot or should not use oil.
Also the time taken vs the hassle of getting a pot out , filling it with oil , waiting for the oil to heat up. Then cook and having to then either dispose of the oil or filter it ....

An airfryer is so much less hassle.

Perfect example of why you don’t listen to hearsay reviews. Clueless.

Air Fryer all the way! Got our foot in the door with a mid-range Philips which worked well. But recently moved on to the DNA one.

So much time and hassle saved. Respect & appreciation to the air fryer! :giggle:

Yes got the Philips XL which is enough for 2-3 people. Can compare it to a dishwasher in terms of usefulness. Gets warm instantly unlike my oven and unlike the oven switches off instantly as well. Can also change the settings on the fly. Much easier to clean and more energy efficient as well. It's a no brainer.

Yeah no that's not true at all. On my XL using Checkers Housebrand Frying chips it takes about 10 minutes to have slapchips. 20 minutes and you'll have something harder than American style chips.
