Thread title should be "Why are you not using and airfryer?"

Do you use an AirFryer? If so does it see regular use or does it collect dust?

If not are you considering getting one and why?
We now use ours every day. It helps reduce power usage, optimises effective cooking, reduces the need for frying foods to almost nothing and takes huge amount of pressure off the stove.

Becoming innovative too with being able to make complete meals in one device ( Only catering for 3 persons).

The main criticism I have is directed at the manufacturers and suppliers. --- they FAIL miserably in the sales department. An air fryer requires quite a few "accessories" before it can truly deliver on its promises, which pushes up the capital outlay to double the initial cost of the unit. If you don't get those accessories then the uses are severely restricted. I can quite see why some will use one only a few times and then it will gather dust without the correct accessories being available.

It is dirty unacceptable marketing in my opinion.

So do you eat all your food raw? Doesn't the same thing happen with ovens and microwaves?

Edit : Just curious not picking a

:) no problem.

Stews and casseroles FTW, vegetables mostly steamed.

Very few shop bought sauces and salad dressings. Very few take aways.

Most ovens do have an air fryer option, aka "heat convection".
I would strongly suggest everyone to use that before buying a dedicated air fryer.
LOL yes. This whole air fryer craze come from people that don't know how to cook and never realized what great and easy food you can make in your normal oven. It doesn't even need a fan.
That said, I have an air fryer/convection oven and do use it often for small things, as it does heat up quicker.
But if I have to chose, I would take a big oven every day over a little air fryer. In a oven I can make a dinner for 4 with meat veg and rice in one go, hell I can make for 8-10 people.

And an air fryer is nothing new, its just an rebranded convection oven with increased prices. This you can have for 1/5 of the price and you can actually fit a big chicken and some veg in it, or a cake or bread pan.

And the funny thing is, when you market it for the woke crowd as "HOOOOOH AND AIR FRYER" the price go up

Our oven takes about 20 min to preheat to 200 degrees. I can be done cooking spicy chicken wings and chips in the airfryer in the same time.

That actually looks worthwhile. I take it you have, and would recommend, one?

Agree. It does not make sense really to have both an air fryer and a convection oven. What is interesting though is how few of us ever learnt to use convection ovens properly and effectively.

I know, that's what I said. It has a purpose for something quick and small for one or two people. but this sudden craze about how great food you make is it, is just ridiculous, you could make the same or even better in a normal oven for the last 100 years

Today's spicy chicken and chips was for a family of 5. 1kg of chicken strips and boneless wings for 8 min and then 1kg of chips for 15 min

Yes mine is probably 15 years old and funny enough I started hearing the fan getting stuck when I start it last week. They are so cheap, still deciding if I'm going to open it up to clean it at the motor or just buy a new one.
They work great and much bigger. Just two things. Firstly, that big glass is not a bowl for cooking. you either fit food on the rack/grills provided or if you want fit it in a oven proof pot/bowl that sit on the rack/grills. The big glass bowl does not heat up as much as the inside, as it cools down from outside temp. but this is also a pro as you don't need to buy all kinds of extra fittings, you use normal oven bowls/pans etc that can fit.
Secondly, it only have two knobs, one for time and one for temp. So you must know yourself how warm and how long you have to cook, no pre-sets like these 5k things for the noobs, but then again you can see your food the whole time and can see when it should be done.
