One of the most life changing appliances I have ever bought. Have been loving it for the last year or so since we got one. Have just bought one for the family holiday house we share to make our stays there more convenient.
Instant Pot will change your life more :p

We got an instant pot 4 years ago, so have had it much longer than the air fryer and we hardly use it. It is a nice appliance and great for some stuff, but honestly the air fryer is used 20 times more than the instant pot or our slow cooker. The instant pot we mainly use when we cook our stewing beef type meals (stews, etc). The pressure cooker mode basically turns even mediocre cuts of meat into very soft nice meat and nothing beats that but we hardly have that meal in Summer and have it perhaps once a week in winter. The slow cooker is amazing for slow cooked roasts, legs of lamb, etc. Used it over Easter to do an epically soft and nice leg of lamb.

Fry’s.

ugh, meat free?

first reduce the oil then cancel the meat ... why even eat at all if one's existence is without flavour?

this is more like it:

I've avoided some recipes for that reason. The messiest thing I'll make is chicken wings, I can't imagine putting a whole chicken in there and cleaning up after.
Put it on tinfoil.

I put the basket and container in the dishwasher, easiest clean up ever

LOL now you must buy an air fryer and an Instant pot. Well we can say for sure that marketing still fools people in 2022.
You have an oven, you can do everything that you do in the Air fryer and more in the oven. You can also take 5 minutes to put meat veg and sauce into a flat bottom cast iron pot, put the lid on. Put in oven and leave it there for 3 hours and come back take it out and enjoy you perfect potjie/stew that cost you 5min of labour. Hell My oven has a timer. I put everything in. Meat still frozen in the morning, set timer so oven will switch on at 2pm. And 5 pm when we all at home we have the perfect potjie.
And yes next to your oven you also had a stove for the last 50 years. You put your cheap pressure cooker on it and within 20min you can have chicken falling of the bone, or an hour for a whole leg of lamb to fall of the bone. Hell you cant even fit these things in an air fryer or Instant pot

OOOh and let us not forget the marketing. Live healthy, no more oil. And here I have been throwing 5L of oil the last 50 years in the oven every time I had to use it.

What exactly is your point ? Do you think that people that make use of air fryers do not use stoves or ovens ?

It's 2022. Do you know what cooking oil costs now?

someone got triggered, you can say the same think about a microwave vs a stove and oven. Seriously though its a small fast, efficient oven that works better than a microwave when cooking and reheating food, join the cult and see how much your life improves...no more soggy pies and pizza slices...no more waiting 10 mins for the oven to warm up

Well I hope not. My point is people want to make as if and air fryer is some new invention that suddenly make better food. It is only a small oven that use less electricity for small things. All the healthier no oil, better crispier food is just marketing BS.

The oven takes a lot longer than the air fryer and does not produce the same crispy finish. I have tested extensively. For instance when we roasted a chicken in the past it was always in the oven. It took about 60 to 90 minutes. The air fryer does it in less than half that time for well less than half the electricity cost, and it tastes so much better. Our chicken is now like the woolies ones. Crispy on the outside and very juicy on the inside. I cannot go back to the oven for cooking certain things. Anything like chips, crumbed chicken, fish, and many other meals come out better in the air fryer, take less time, and costs me less in electricity. Whats not to like? The oven we mainly use for baking now and Pizza's.

Have a question about these: if you already have a large convection oven, does the Airfryer eventually pay for itself via savings on the cost of preheating a large oven?

We have gigantic 6 burner SMEG that takes 20min to get to 200C. Bit much just to roast a chicken IMO.

So I reckon it's energy cost savings mostly in my circumstances. I imagine there is little difference in the actual utility of an Airfryer vs a convection oven but I could be wrong, any comments?
