Do You Use Free Name Servers

So, I've been meaning to get a VPS to test out and perhaps move my personal sites over from shared hosting to a VPS or cloud system.

Some providers have their own name servers while some don't. Does anyone here use any of the free name servers?
I currently have an account with http://freedns.afraid.org/ and could use their name servers.

How good are the name servers in terms of resolution time etc?

I use the free DNS hosting from http://www.vps.co.za/ and have never had a problem.
