Giving it some thought now, the only thing that I'd consider putting a smart-tag on is my dog.
Damn, just how big is your house and yard??? Maybe you should get it a hearing aid instead. Or if you adopted it, go to the SPCA and ask what the dog's original first name and language the owners spoke to it was.

Or maybe the previous owner was deaf-mute and the dog only understands sign language

A semi-serious question - would these work with my kids at a large outdoors school event? (Asking for a friend I mean - they might have misplaced a kid or two over the years, definitely not me).
Get them GPS watches instead.

My 15 year old doesn't want her mother to fetch her from school anymore because she wants to walk with her friends. The area we live in is relatively safe and it's about an 800m walk. I told her I'm only going to allow it if she wears her watch. If not, her mother will go fetch her.

Doggo won’t get lost in my yard, but he is super-friendly and will go off with anyone who pets him. He could eb easily kidnapped.

I am fascinated that people misplace things. It boggles the mind. Its very simple, everything has its place. put the thing in its place.
I think these tags will just make one even lazier.
My wife puts stuff all over the place e.g. leaves house keys in the car overnight, leaves car keys in the garage, leaves her wallet inside her laptop bag, leaves her drivers licence inside her note book etc.

As much as I want to leave her to her own devices, it ultimately has an negative impact on me and my sanity...

I hang keys in the cupboard, and my cards are inside my cellphone case, never really struggle to find stuff, when I misplace my phone in the house (slips out of my pocket), I ask Google Home to locate it

Only Apple Airtags. They are the best, and i also don't trust the other ones and who has access to the data etc.

I have them on pretty much anything I could lose or leave behind.

How old are you, 95?

I know what you mean,

The only problem is that not everyone thinks/behaves like that (glares at my wife who leaves her keys, specs and sunglasses all over - she has a good memory though so always knows where she last left it - me, I always put things in the same place so I don't have to remember...)

Do you have one tied to your spectacles?

You could just get a trendy neck chain..

I've tried so hard and so often to get my wife to put stuff in the same place. Our old wooden door has about 10 hooks on the back for our keys and invariably her car key found in the fruit bowl or down the side of the couch.

 I once found my wife's car keys in the fridge

oh, and FindMyPhone (combined with Life360 that warns me when her phone battery drops below 10%) is an absolute godsend too

I solved the specs problem by keeping all my old specs - so there is a pair next to my computer, next to my bed, in my work bag, on my desk at the office, and on the bookcase in the TV room - in a pinch the older lenses are perfectly usable :D

Genuinely can't think of a use case for it in my context - and I've tried 'cos damn, I want to buy one just because but at that price I'd feel too guilty when it ends up languishing in a drawer...
I have exactly the same problem....

I think women are generally more careless when putting stuff down when they enter the house. Perhaps its a psychological difference between the genders.

The only thing I would always look for is my wallet and that's purely because the kids would want money when they go to the mall or something and I'll tell them to get some from my wallet. Needless to say, I spent a lot of time in getting to put something back exactly where they found it.

Many a time I would find my wife throwing out half the wardrobe in the bedroom looking for something that she put in there 2 days ago. While I can casually walk to the exact location I put an item 2 years ago, while drunk, without issue at all.

I think its because women talk too damn much so they can't focus

I use a few cheap Chinese GPS-based ones that I use. One is in my son's school bag and the other I sometimes put on my cat's collar to see what he gets up to. Have to charge them every few days which is a bit of a ballache though. Considering getting some Apple Airtags soon.

Got a link?

Do they notify you when they're about to die?
