Got a link?

Do they notify you when they're about to die?
No death imminent notifications

I bought them while in Hong Kong, but they seem to be rebranded G03s. The only difference is that the ones, I have, have a charge port cover and a keyring attached.

I thought I would jump for the AirTags when they launched here but even when I could get them at 40% off, I ended up realising that all the things I need to tag already have the tag built in.

Don’t use a Wallet any more because of Apple Pay.

My bike is keyless so the keys never leave my bag etc.

No need for them and not sure I'd be comfortable having one on me to be honest

Yup, using 2 Apple Airtags, one on my car keys and one in my wallet. And thinking of getting more.

I honestly do like the idea that if somebody takes my wallet I get a little notification on my phone to say that it is no longer with me. And yes, I am the type who places my keys / wallet in random places when I get home and my mind is busy with something else - having the little arrow on my phone leading me directly to it has saved ma a couple of times since I've bought it.

Do like the idea of putting it on my dog too - she does take a chance every now and then.

I've had cheap no-name ones in the past and they sucked compared to the Apple Airtag.

A semi-serious question - would these work with my kids at a large outdoors school event? (Asking for a friend I mean - they might have misplaced a kid or two over the years, definitely not me).
The nearby features will probably be useful. I might test it out when our school has another spitbraai (big event with 100s of adults/kids on the rugby field) by giving one of the kids one.

(EDIT: I can't imagine the "make the tag beep" feature will be useful in such an environment - these things are not loud)

This pisses me off. The item is 30m from me and i can’t get a ping on it.

Not convinced these things are worth it. The “item left behind” is about the only useful feature.

I am fascinated that people misplace things. It boggles the mind. Its very simple, everything has its place. put the thing in its place.
I think these tags will just make one even lazier.

I agree - totally.

Never ending battle with my wife, tho. Always looking for something. Never going to win it.

Long ago, told her, you lose something, don't ask me to look for it.

Yes, samsung airtag on a small garage key that always goes missing.

Coming home after shopping have to lock the garage, unlock security gate/front door/bedroom door, while carrying a handbag, shopping bags, usually a bottle of milk, sometimes a jersey.

Oh yes, sometimes talking on the phone too :sneaky:

No wonder small things get misplaced.

I use a Samsung one I won on here on my car keys. So if my phone is misplaced I can find it with the tag and if the keys are misplaced I can find it with the phone. And being the absent minded dork I am I do use it often..

I would have some uses for them, but they're very expensive for their relatively limited usefulness.

OOH look at Mr "I have all my sht together all the time" over here.

It may come as a surprise, but some people struggle with things you don't.
When I was young I could keep track of everything, even amongst what appeared to be chaotic clutter, but decades later things often go astray in spite of trying to make sure everything has its place.

So I seriously thought about throwing in one of my Airtags into my son's (9 y/o) bag when he goes on a school camp for the next 3 days.

But the anti-stalker features (where it starts beeping the Airtag within 8 to 24 hours away from the tag's owner) will basically stop this from being useful.

I have ADHD so I often put things down without realizing that I'm doing it or where. The goal seems to be to get the hands empty as fast as possible.
As a result I spend about 60% of my life looking for that god damn thing I had in my hands not 5 fsking seconds ago.

Try using a public transport system on a daily basis. Eventually something gets left behind.

Other. Dumb tags. Dum like me.

FYI if you have an Airtag, and you change the battery and it doesn't work.

You can A. Spend an hour like me trying to figure out why or

B.. if its a Duracell CR2032, look carefully under bright light and you'll notice that when you pulled off the "baby-swallow" tag on the top of the battery, there is still a thin, hardly visible, almost transparent adhesive around the outer rim of the (-) side. It is enough to stop the battery making contact with the Airtag.

Simply use your nail or something to scrape the adhesive off and put the battery back in the Airtag and...voila!

C. Don’t buy Duracell again because only they do this stupid ****.

Pulled my hair out replacing my bike’s key battery for the very same reason.

Fortunately every house has litres of high alcohol sanitiser to wipe it off with.

Bad choice on my part, should have put a tag on my main keys that got stolen in a house robbery.
