Hi, as I am still new to ipods, I wanted to ask if they work / charge with linux.

I would like to be able to charge my ipod classic from my eeepc, if possible.

Thanks! :)

You can charge it no bother. Updating it and synching with iTunes is a totally different matter though.

Why not just plug it in and see what happens?

I take it charging is done the same way as my cellphone, so in fact it is the USB port that "charges" your appliance, so yes, it will charge.

Like Nod said there is also a way to get it going with amarok.

Good luck, and why not write up a quick how-to once you are done for reference to other iPod Linux users?

So, my ipod classic will charge on my eeepc, but I don't want to sync it due to the eeepc having only a 4 GB HDD and the ipod classic having about 110 GB more storage ...

Can running / syncing your ipod in Linux make it stop working?
