I'm so Goth, my wrists slit themselves
Ordered a HDD online from my new fav online store, however this was shipped directly from the seagate distributors warehouse, so the store it self didn't package the HDD for shipping.

Needless to say the drive arrived DOA, I am not talking some bad sectors or doesn't work as intended, simple stone dead, start up, and I can hear the mechanical arm scratching the surface and switching off not even the bios is able to pick up the drive.

I can't believe that seagate has such strict shipping returns policies but their distributors ship like morons, it was shipped in a static bag in a normal foam box not even in a plastic container, the box allows for free movement, typical with on and off loading.

Seriously now I am expected to pay shipping fees again, for the distributors bad practices.

Freaking idiots.

Well I am currently dealing with the store it self, in particular will be footing the bill for their(distributors) negligence, that is a R350 odd bill.

Still this is how you are suppose to ship a HDD.

The only people I've seen ship drives anywhere close to that is from Dell.. one drive in a box nearly double the drives size packed full of foam.

Its sad really!

Oh well, at least I found out that I will not be fitting the bill, and that they will arrange courier pick up and delivery. Just the inconvenience of having to wait at least another 2 weeks.

Nearly a month later and my HDD finally arrived :( however still shipped like an idiot, the store ships directly from the supplier some times, not directly their fault however it would be nice if the supplier, did a course in bubble wrap.

Went ahead and ordered a 2tb external for secondary back, have a couple grand worth of 3D model content that needs safe keeping so will see how that plays out.
