DoC study highlights expensive local telecoms services

this is probably just some political stunt...vote for the ANC....we will rectify......so people vote, and in the first year they spend our money doing studies to tell us things we already knew, then they complain complain complain....... next four years down the line....vote for us, we will rectify.....bla bla bla bla bla, the day i vote for ANC is the day i have a 4 meg line uncapped, unshaped, no thresholds for R500 a month, other than that....they will not get my vote or support cuz they all talk no action.

Next steps:
Appoint a consultant to study the results of the study.
Have public hearings about it.
Then do another study.
Suggest ICASA asks the industry to comment on the study
Suggest ICASA beg the industry to allow it to comment on the study
ICASA declares that it does not need a study as the industry assures ICASA that all is well fine and dandy!

Declare that a drop in broadband prices will be 'imminent'.

You work for government right? You know their procedures and protocols too well.
You even "neglected" to mention the money funneling and hotel, vehicle and catering contracts being dished out to buddies to have said meetings and hearings.

Telkom's excuse last time regarding a study like this is "it's not an apples to apples comparison"

So I wonder, now that it's being compared to other "apples" what their response would be now...

****, even Kenya's broadband penetration and speeds are higher AND cheaper

Well there is something we can, what about we all flood the new presidential hot line with demands for change? surely if we get in the thousands, the president will be aware that the public outcry is far bigger then he imagined???

That statement is clearly false. We all know the president has no imagination.

rpm must just charge the likes of doc and icasa to just have access to the mybb forum. the comments here will be exactly what the study found out, just cheaper...

Well .... Roast my raisin
Who in the DoC actually conducted the study:confused:, and how long did it take?
I was "convinced"(;)) that we had the greatest broadband services in a 3rd world country:rolleyes:
