Does 10111 really help?

I have tried it on my neighbours. +/- 15- 45 min response time. ( I have done this on several occations.. so yeah I think they are getting slower to respond)

The opperators I have reached were great.

Like Mila said, the operators are very good. The problem more often lies with the SAP branch they put you through to. In Sea Point I haven't had a problem. They arrived in under five minutes of the call both times. In Houghton, however, they never did show up. The 10111 operators do put you through to the relevant branch very quickly.

You will get very mixed stories,I've called them twice, the first time they took 5min to respond and the second around 30min.
I'm sure its got a fair bit to do with where you live etc.The first time there were burglars in my neighbours house and the second time it was for a big car accident I stumbled across(was in a "rural" outskirts of town area),yes I know I should not have called 10111 for a car accident but didnt know the other numbers then :)

I had a very quick response when we discovered intruders in our garden one night late last year. 3 vehicles from Norkem Park Police Station arrived in 5 minutes, with about 12 cops :) I was very impressed as previous experiences were very different but that was in the late nineties...

I think the reason many of you wait longer for the police to rock up is ,because complaints gets prioritized according to the seriousness of it.

If you call 10111 and lets say your neighbours are disturbing the piece and you want them to shut the f&*@ up the police vehicle which was given the complaint will first attend to his more serious complains like a robbery in progress ect. That specific vehicle might have 18 outstanding complains and he will do them in order of which it was given to him.

10111 I have always had prompt service except where the operator has difficulty in taking down particulars like the street name ect.

12 cops!?
Did they catch them?

Nope - When I heard the noises in the garden and BRAVELY peeked out of the window, I was so p*ssed off I just yelled at the guys and they took off like startled criminal types :D
Of course, thinking back on it - that was a really stupid thing to do - could have been shot for my trouble :(

So right after that the electric fence went up :)

Used them once when a stranger was walking around the complex late one night. SAP rocked up in about 10 minutes. Not too bad :)

Turned out to be a drunk beggar who somehow gained access to the complex.

If theres a drunkard walking around my complex I would confront him with "Gimme booze or gtfo"!

Here in George - excellent response times 5-15m.
Piet Retief - well they did not have a phone when my brother in laws Isuzu bakkie was stolen.

So its dependent on the local offices -
Like to see a poll started as the local cops do deserve the praise

called them once and the women could hardly speak English, - they came out 2 weeks later
the other time they came within 5-10min (the average time it takes from the station to my house), it depends on who is on duty and when I guess.

or if the car is available, experienced that in a township. Sometimes all vans will be lazing somewhere not available for use.

Called 10111 3 times during the past 4 years. Great service and speedy response every time.

You were lucky. The last time we were broken into (9 months ago), ADT eventually managed to get the cops out here (also Norkem Park). I'm still waiting for the cops to show up after a call I made about an attempted break in 3 years ago (No ADT membership then)..... These days, I call ADT first - they are always here in less then 5 minutes..

That said, I have massive respect for the police officers - I think they are understaffed and under equipped to deal with everything.
