Here is my story : I applied for 8ta last month Nov 28 and got approved the same day (cool). When i applied i indicated that i want my bill to be e-mailed and they send it through post office . I also indicated that i want my debit order to go off on the last day of the month and they send me this sms :

Good day, hope you have a Happy Festive Season and a prosperous 2012 from the 8.ta team. We would like to inform you that the debit order for your service will be presented to your bank on the 20th Dec 2011. Thank you

does Dec end on the 20th now ? I am only getting paid end of month so what is going to happen now ??:mad:

Most retailers do this during December as the majority of people are paid on the 15th. Just phone them and explain you only get paid on xx date.

I am with 8 ta on the 10 Gig contract for 4 months and couldn't get them to debit my account or furnish me with more than the first invoice. Even after contacting the Menlyn office three times, the Woodlands office four times and the call-centre a few times already. I gave them our POBox postal address for the invoices but they sent the first one to the street address with only the first part of the street name. They couldn't even copy the address correctly from the municipal account and I wonder about the correctness of the Rica information.

I then asked them to rather send the invoices to my e-mail address, but to no avail. Every end of the month they send me a sms to inform me that the debit order was rejected and they will cut the service if I don't pay up but can give no reason for the rejection.
All the debit order information was checked over and over as correct. Now they tell me I can change my account to pay monthly by EFT if I prefer to.
Is there no one who is capable of fixing things, I wonder???

Lo and behold, on the 15th I was at Woodlands again to confirm that I had no outstanding invoices, which was confirmed. Yesterday (16/12/11) I received the SMS that the debit order will be run on 20/12/2011 instead of the last day of the month. Today another SMS arrived which told me the debit order was rejected by the bank and my service will again be cut if I don't take immediate action to settle all outstanding monies.

no 8ta does not listen.

They will be the source of their own undoing - I wonder do these idiots ever think that all of their actions will have a direct impact on how customers perceive 8ta and take up their offers.

I am at present investigating cancelling my 10gb promo deal - as consultant showed me that Sandton is covered in pink/red so I won't have any hassle connecting. I am literally opposite Sandton city and right now at this very moment - No service.

If and when I am lucky I manage to get a single bar, maybe a sliver more of edge. I've had enough .

So I logged a call and requested they provide me cancellation figures a- they gave me a case number and promised to get back within 72 hours ( yes you got it - 8ta customers have to wait all of 3 days for a 1st response) typical and as expected they failed to get back to me.

I've now despatched 2 pm's to the rep and 3 emails to the Telkom Mobile Commercial Back Office 8ta email addy and have yet to receive any word back.

I make use of uncapped internet at home, so the only place that I really utilise this 10gb promo is at work in Sandton.

Curse you 8ta.

You lot are going to go bankrupt and it is all your own doing. another Billion rand plus loss on the way.

I sorely regret getting an 8ta contract, I should have just renewed my cell-c pre-paid. I get constant disconnects, had an 8ta tech come to my house and confirm that something is wrong because I have signal and connect and no throughput. One week later the issues are gone, and two weeks after that and all my issues are back.

On the 8ta website and here on the forum it was clearly stated that there would be no clawback of oustanding payments and now they want to charge me for the full remainder of the contract when I try to cancel a service I don't receive.

Anyone considering 8ta should seriously reconsider.

Personally I'm very pleased with 8ta. I've gotten great service from them so far, my connections are stable, and invoices are on time. I really can't complain.

How about commenting on the clawback of remainder of the contract when you on this forum specifically said there would be no clawback?

They listen if you are very very persistent...

No, seriously, I haven't seen a single 8ta invoice to date. Not bothered too much but am concerned.
The Debit Orders go off as they should and after a lot of complaining and many many e-mails managed to get the speed & connection issues sorted.

So yeah, I agree the admin side suck, not to mention the wait on their customer care line....
