Does a ban on booze help?

I'm dismayed but not surprised by how many defenders, proponents and supporters there are of authoritarian laws and practices. State compulsion is evidently not something that bothers most South Africans, at least not as a matter of principle. No lovers and defenders of liberty here - most clearly welcome the arms of the Big Daddy State. I'm shocked and saddened that even ostensibly educated people defend intolerable state impositions. No wonder liberty is in eclipse and tyranny on the rise.

Yeh most people dont get it , next they will stop you driving because that will save lives .
People do not get that our rites as human beings are being shattered by a bunch of yahoos .

It has been proven it doesn't help, what does help is the policing of curfews. People are still drinking. All they have done is encourage job loss

If the previous ban did not help, and the lockdowns lasted for much longer, how is another shorter ban going to be equally or more effective at anything other than cause an even greater loss of jobs?

The ban eases up the burden at the hospitals, but that comes at a higher price as SAns and other nationals continue to lose jobs which will increase crime further more. The ban should've been on onsite consumption only.
