Does a civic handle too well?

Maybe im just adjusting, cause I drove a 2000 1.2l fiat palio for the last 4 years.

But... im overall underwhelmed by my upgrade to a 08 honda civic 1.8l.

Maybe i was just used to the fiat?

Does the civic handle better? ofc it does.
but the steering feels too light almost, like theres no feedback from the car. With my palio steering was quite rough, but i felt a lot of feedback from my turning style and general driving.

This is not present with the civic.

Other issue is i cant really feel the acceleration, the car handles speed too well. Its obviously a lot faster but accelerating doesnt feel that way.

In my palio i could accelerate and really feel the difference. In the civic any speed feels the same basically.

other minor issue is the clutch pedal position, my foot is angled like this / very steep it feels innatural but thats probs just an ergonimics issue i must adapt to.

It does look nice tho but sometimes i feel like a douche, i am a humble person and i liked feeling like a poor boy sometimes.

I'm thinking of getting a Civic or an Audi A3 next year. How are you finding the civic?

Dude what do you expect...the Palio is a top ride!

Steering feedback; ride quality; build...it's a winner.

You are not comparing apples with apples.

When I drive the Honda Civic after driving the Mazda sting I notice the same things you do.

All jap cars have light steering and indicators on diffrent side of the car, compared to european cars

Think of your new car like a pair of new shoes you just got,

will get easier promise, just be careful initially till you get used to the responses.....

And enjoy your civic; it will serve you reliably for many years, your kids will still drive it,

The Civic handling is fine and you'll get used to it. I came from a 3 series and while it the civic steering is lighter, it doesn't feel disconnected. If your Palio didn't have power steering then it would be very different. What size tyres do you have on?

I wouldn't know about the clutch pedal position as I drive an auto. The only criticism I have of the 8th Gen Civic's handling is the suspension, which does feel a bit hard and "crashy" over bumps. Apparently the newer 9th Gen Civic is much better in this regard. Overall it's a lovely car though and I'm very happy with mine.

After a while, you'll get used to the comfort of driving the civic and then not want o go back to any older car.

Not to sound like a douche but I am pretty sure you dont have to feel like a douche in an 08 civic?
Congrats on the upgrade though, I am sure you will get use to it in time. Just enjoy it dude! New cars are always fun :)

Typical case of making a major upgrade.

It's what happens when you go from a dinky toy car to a proper car in one step.

Oddly enough we also had a 2000/2001 Fiat Palio 1.2 which I traded in on my Golf GTI...and what's odd was with all that power, heated leather seats, amazing DSG gearbox, sun roof, automatic headlamps and what have you...I ended up enjoying the "other car" (a 2001 Opel Corsa 1.4 Lite with fokkol) a lot more every time I got behind the wheel.

The lack of insulation means even doing 20km/h sounds insane. The body roll makes everything feel super fast. The manual gearbox just adds a bit of work and then the complete lack of power steering makes it feel so direct like a go kart.

Would I trade it back? You must be ****ing mad.

****ty cars are just more visceral for all the wrong reasons and that's why it feels strange to you. Yes your car is too well built, compared to what you had before and that makes it feel boring.

*****

Set your seat as low as it can go so that you are looking at the horizon instead of the nose of the car and the road in front of you. This will sort out the clutch pedal somewhat and is also the way you should be driving anyway.

Your Palio was slow, sounds like my ex.

But then what can you expect from someone doing grade 4 for the fourth time.

As usual, you equate your experience and opinion to being the the be-all and end-all. Faark. Totally clueless, just for a change,,,

What the **** are you on about?

Did you miss the part where the OP's experience and mine are almost IDENTICAL?

There was no be all and end all to anything, I simply acknowledged that I understand exactly what he means and explained why I think it happens...where most other people would say he might be crazy.

There is nothing clueless about personal experiences. In fact the exact opposite for someone like yourself who doesn't have the same experience to verbalize an opinion from.

You really are a fly in the vaseline.
