Ok, I have a tiny problem. What happens if you suspect someone else may be using your account details. Is hat even possible? Because my ADSL usage is sky high, and I don't understand it. I have not used over 2 GB of my 3 GB because I have barely even touched the computer (and no one else in this house has, either).

Anyway, I thought when you can only have ONE concurrent connection, only one router can connect to your account at any given time.

I use TelkomInternet, 384 kbps. Can someone explain?

OH! I forgot to add something. Does anyone know about Meebo? It is a web based Instant Messenger. Can anyone else use it, because I ALWAYS get this error:

"Meebo could not connect to the network. Please check your network connection."

Can someone else who uses TelkomInternet please see if they have the same problem?

Dood phone telkom get them to change ur password

Also change ur router username and pass word or they jst hack your account again... Try close ports that are open because thats what allows people into you router..

And make sure you haven't got some malware, rootkits and stuff like that on your PC otherwise someone could be using your PC and Internet connection for relaying spam or DDoS attacks.

Yes. I have changed my password, I am running on Linux, though. And even if I have one of the 50 virusses out there, I doubt its that. Anyway, I hope the problem is resolved now. I just went to the telkomsa.net site and changed my password on there using their "password tool". Anyway, what I am wondering, however, is how they got my pass in the first place. It is just a random amount of numbers. It is really odd.

Anyway, let us also not forget my tiny Meebo problem, as stated in the first post. I just feel so left out of the meebo hype at the moment...

Yeah, if it's a Linux box then it's highly unlikely to be an "infection".
What happened to someone I know is that one of the Telkom employees was leaking people's usernames and passwords. They caught the bugger but it took a couple of months.

I tried to log into my MSN account with Meebo and I get the same error message.
Kopete works fine though and I much prefer an IM client that is native to the window manager like GAIM or Kopete because of the better integration and notification.

Like PaulS said,

It might be malware that's stealing your bandwith in the background. You won't even know it! You should scan your PC with Lavasoft Ad Aware SE personal. It's a free program and offers top of the range protection against spyware, adware, nagware, dialers and certain trojans.

AFAIK the number of concurrents depends on your telkomsa account. If you have supreme, then you are allowed 2 concurrents, although Telkom seems to have limited this to one by default. call 10215 and ask them. Note: this could be a serious challenge as the habitually give out totally wrong information based on their level of incompetence!

PS I ran ie spell check on this page before submitting and it suggested that TelkomInternet be changed to Malcontent :D :D

Haha. :D

Yeah. I will phone Monday (or, technically it is monday now) and ask about the concurrent connection thing. That is the ONLY explanation. I have never had the default password for the router. Save for the first few hours. I also CANNOT have malware or spyware or any kind of ware on my computer because, as stated above, I am running Linux (Ubuntu Edgy).

I just noticed something. Tuesday will be the day that I am officially ONE YEAR into my 2 year contract. They installed our ADSL on the 14th of November 2005.

Why would you want to call your ISP to change your password... just go to www.telkominternet.co.za and change the password.

Edited: He states that he changed it on the website, good then... but to Freaksta... yeah dont know what ISP you with, but calling them is kinda old :)

Windows or other updates?

or is this perhaps your prob?:D

TellkomInternet is a wonderful ISP, I want to see where you can get that kinda per gig price ration, soz for you 30GB account being gone, but just because they are gone doesnt mean the rest have to suffer with 3GB restrictions... unless you want to use hacked accounts ofcourse, kinda ironic how it fits into this thread.

re: meebo.
I use meebo at work and whenever our bandwidth is being used at max capacity then it gives that error.

Also when i just logged back in to see if i get that error the little Message of the day was going on bout a upgrade of some sorts and that some users were experiencing outages. Though it sounded more like it occures only after you've logged in.

Soz can't help further, but i guess any help/info is beter than nothing at all.
