Hi all.
First of all this is not a post about attempting to hack or crack DStv.
This is related to the now long obsolute M-Net Decoders.

Namely the old Delta 9000 & Comcrypt 4000 etc.
Assisting someone, as a hobby to attempt to revive this old units, and scramble & descrable our own content. The video scrambling method has been widely documented over the years, as it's been used in various countries, but what's not well understood is the Sigma/Orion/Irdeto audio encryption. Understanding the format of the Orion Audio, and the control channel, and how they are spaced is vital in attempting to get this working.

I understand copyright etc, but to my knowledge this technology is now considered obsolute, and no corporate interests are being placed at risk by revealing such info, so if anyone is able to be of assistance please let me know, or DM me.
Even the smallest of assistance will be much appreciated.

I believe the audio was never "cracked" by the enthusiasts who looked into this back in the day, will be cool to see if something has changed

1 way encryption/decoding has always fascinated me

Video was easy to get, the problem is the audio was encrypted. No one managed (or publically acknowledged) to decrypt the audio.
Oh they did all right, it was just kept a tightly guarded secret because in those days MonoChoice had an internal goon squad that used to come knocking. It was also kept a secret to not arouse MonoChoice suspicions and keep the key change interval more or less infrequent.
 
Are old Mnet Decoders still functional? Like receiving current broadcasting not just powering on

This! We did, and I have the info buried in one of my boxes. Will take me a long time to find the info though so not going to be much help for OP at the moment.
