Does anyone know when AMD Bulldozer series will launch?

New rumoured launch date is 13 October... maybe... possibly... etc

Not so bad, but considering it is rumoured i guess we can kinda expect there to be an issue again. Eish i wish they would their ass in gear got a decision to make this side!!!!!! by the time they come around i may as well buy intel's newer stuff .

Bleh... should we rather just wait for Tom's Hardware to post a benchmark before we decide anything?

Cheaper than expected
AMD’s FX series processors are scheduled to launch in mid October and AMD seems keen take Intel on in the value department.

According to Donanimhaber, the flagship FX-8150 will end up with a $245 price tag, somewhat lower than expected. The same goes for the FX-8120 and FX-6100, priced at $205 and $175. All things considered, the prices are pretty low and all three of them sound like a pretty good deal.

This basically means AMD will position the FX-8150 against Intel’s Core i7 2600K, hence it is safe to assume that performance will be on par. However, AMD has a tradition of offering somewhat better value for money, so the FX-8150 could end up a bit quicker.

They had the tradition these days with intel being so cheap they need to offer more than value. They need to offer value plus performance.

Bring it amd!!!!!!

Oh nice, they show us the gaming performance of the FX vs a CPU that pwns in multi threaded apps AND a CPU that no one really buys for a gaming rig yet for apps like WinRAR, WPrime etc (Apps designed for multiple cores/threads) they choose to compare it to the Intel quad cores.

If the above benches are true, I don't think Bulldozer is going to be anything earth shattering.

You are worried about AMD (if the benches are correct) beating Intel with a chip that is set to launch for $40-60 cheaper than the 2600k?

Before Ivy or Bulldozer come out?

I NEEEEED a new PC. With the intel, I can just upgrade the processor to an Ivy later on. BUT because it's built for rendering cgi, it will be foolish not to see what the oct core can do..
/hates waiting

No, it's the other way around. 990fx chipset takes both old and new (BD) cpus.

Looks like October 12th is the release date. Some bulldozer bundles have already appeared for pre order on the American site Tigerdirect.

There's a chance 890fx/gx chipsets will also be able to take BD, but that's a wait-and-see thing I guess.

Would also need manufacturer support. I heard Asus provided such support for its more expensive 890FX boards.
