Does MTN provide LTE-A with carrier aggregation?

Anyone know a good outdoor router that can make use of this properly? Or indoor with antenna?

So with the new spectrum. What will MTN and Vodacom be able to do with it now and will it be available on all towers?

Are we talking 4CA(carrier aggregation) on 4G

And what is 5G going to use

As mentioned earlier in the thread, the B818. It's not outdoor but does allow for antenna, but afaik the antenna then also needs to support it.

The router does a pretty good job on its own unless you are in a really bad reception area in which case CA probably wouldn't be possible anyway.

I don't see any option on my B618 with MTN fixed LTE via Afrihost.
Only 4G, 3G, 2G or auto.

Can anyone confirm this?

You wont carrier aggregate on F-LTE, 10mhz carrier is allocated for F-LTE, it's not the same bandwidth used for standard LTE.

You wont pick up an option for this on your router either- it's automatically done via the network, provided your device is capable of doing it.

Looks like they wanted spectrum for 5G. I'm guessing 5G speeds will hit 1Gbit on MTN soon will have to see.

Y'ello ,

Today changes everything!

Today, MTN acquired new Spectrum, flipping the switch that flips our world on its head.

MTN can now make radical enhancements to its 5G offering, drastically increase speeds, and reduce congestion.

Today we see a world where the digital economy is always open for business, every Rand spent gets you more than ever before, and the internet runs faster for all.

Today, we unleash the true power of 5G.

I ended up going with the ZTE MC7010 and I must say I am very happy, speeds of 100+Mbps regularly, and even strong signal during loadshedding when the phone is dead in the house. And its 5G ready for if/when MTN rolls it out.

Where can you get those routers and how much are they?
