I'm trying to assist the inlaws with their IPTV experience as they can hardly watch tv between 4:30pm and 9:30pm as it buffers every minute or two. Other video services as Netflix and Youtube plays ok though. They were on a 35mb package which was upgraded to a 100mb package but the problem still stayed the same. However I do speed tests daily for the last week during the mornings, afternoon and nights and never gotten above 55mb on this 100mb line. We live few roads away from each other on the same fibre provider same speed packages just different ISP but I can watch IPTV without a buffer whole day. They watched by me and thus cut the dstv cord by them as well since it was a good experience. I would like to know if here is a Mweb rep on the forum to assist as narrowing down the variables is pointing this issue to be a ISP one and not the IPTV provider.

So does Mweb throttle fibre lines ? Is there other variables I missed that I can check still ?

Sure there's no hardware limitation? wifi router/band etc .

Both out Tv boxes I laid Ethernet Cat6 cables from the routers to our Tv's none is using wifi. Both uses the supplied routers.Mine is a TP-link thiers is some small unbranded router could not see the name on it.

Am I allowed to post it as the other IPTV treads asked not to post names of providers ?
Well the tricky thing is that typically speaking if it's not a service provider that offers services directly in country. Then they don't have sufficient licenses to do so and are so illegal, so getting technical support on it will be difficult or impossible, why should your ISP care about an illegal IPTV service :)

But it's usually down to international performance of your service and device as that is where the content is coming from.

It's a USA based IPTV service provider. They were recommended by a well known Youtuber in the IPTV space which do not do the illegal sources thus I went with one of those as the typical fly by nights close down randomly. The IPTV service does have a support chat , email and phone centre but the call centre is a USA number . I did not want to start at the IPTV provider as we both use the same one and I don't have any issues with my service from them thus it pointing to the ISP.If it would have been the provider I would also have had the same issues watching the same channel at the same time as them.

Just move to the same ISP then as I haven't see any MWEB guy or girl here since Arthur was Martha.

The easiest is to do a tracert to the IPTV site on the two different paths and see what is the difference.

Second the tracert suggestion as mweb sometimes has longer routers depending. I've noticed twitch going through what I think is LINX lately to be unstable peak until 1/2am. The MWEB rep isnt as responsive as afrinatic pbcool or the websquad rep. They are quicker to respond via phone but your mileage may vary. AFAIK they do not throttle fibre lines.

Yeah I mean from an ISP technical support perspective. If it is USA based then legally they don't have licenses in South Africa is what I am saying.

As mentioned switching ISP to align might help, if it's Openserve I can give you a test account?

Mweb, Telkom and Rocketnet blocks iptv during peak times your best is to watch with vpn like nordvpn connected to Sa or UK.

Also what you can try is use a Vodacom 4g connection to test your provider out if it's buffers on a mobile connection then it's the provider if not it's the isp.

Mweb support guys don't know what's iptv as they are mostly tier 1 support guys.

Good isps in SA for iptv is

CISP
AFRIHOST
VOX
VODACOM

What I also noticed is that some TV boxes have issues with lan cable you can try with a wifi connection.

But during peak times alot of isps block iptv so your best bet is to use a VPN to get around it or move ISP's sometimes it's a lucky packet where it will work for a day or so and go back to buffering without vpn etc

You can also try proton vpn, I was on rocketnet and they kept saying they don't throttle iptv etc so when I showed them a video when I flicked to my vox fat pipe and no buffering occurs on my iptv they never respond, so eventually I left them to go for an isp that does not throttle iptv during peak times. As you will Carry on going around in circles with these isps.

Save yourself the hassle of fighting with the isps and switch to a better isp.

Thanks for the replies

So I did some test last night. I ran speed tests to check the connection speed and still not getting near to 80% of the package speed under 50 on a 100mb line. Then did the traceroute don't really know what the results meant but all 3 columns had figures under 30ms.

I then installed a VPN and did speed tests with Surfshark VPN and the figures were massively better attached are shots of them. So it clearly indicates its being throttled. First one is my speeds vs their speeds .

Unfortunately ISP's like Mweb, Telkom and Rocketnet wont unblock IPTV, so its either you use a VPN which is also a good thing or change ISP's. Also test on Weekends on big Sports games to see how the VPN will work sometimes thats also the Provider's issue

Hi @moms

Would like you to please elaborate on how you have come to the conclusion that RocketNet is blocking IPTV, I can assure you that we don’t, shape, throttle, or block anything.

Kindly PM me your details so we can chat.

I left you guys already bud, I have other friends also suffering with iptv not only me.

but you more then welcome to go to my whatsapp chat on the 25th March as I never get a reply from your support guys see picture attached, on the video I sent I showed once I flick to my vox fat pipe buffering dissapears, also during peak times I had to use a VPN to get away from the buffering which I suffered for 6 months with you guys.

I am currently with cisp and experiencing no issues on my same iptv provider, so please explain to me how you not blocking iptv.
