does Shell garages accept debit cards?

i read somewhere recently that Shell garages accepts debit cards to pay for petrol / diesel, does anyone know about this?

I wouldn't be surprised if they do. When I was living in Cape Town, I used my ATM card all the time to fill up at the Shell in Rondebosch. That was way back in 1999, so I'm sure by now they do it at all/most of the garages.

More like a creditcard, except that you start getting charged interest immediately rather than on the statement date.

If u could pay for petrol with a debit card or normal credit card, then u wouldn't need a garage card.

And who needs/wants to pay credit card type interest on something like petrol anyway. And since they charge interest on your purchases immediately, the up to 55 days interest free scenario doesn't apply so paying it off in full every month doesn't help

AFAIK you still cant officially pay for petrol with a credit card. It drives my folks mad when they're visiting and forget that they cant pay for petrol with their credit cards.

Sandton on Katherine and Rivonia, Atholl, Rosebank, Ultracities, Midrand all 3, Gallagher, New Road and that other one.
All of those, I mainly use the one on Atholl Oaklands.
