Got my daughter an ipad wi-fi for xmas, late gift, she received it on the 1st.
And yeh, its a nifty device, but my cell c 5gb bundle is showing 3gb used in 4 days and the only thing new on my network is the ipad, so does it chow data? Are the apps large, she hasn't downloaded many, I just can't see where 3gb of data has gone in 4 days?

Did she have to update the OS by any chance?

Biggest APP I've found is around 700 MB, and those are usually paid apps.

But yes, she probably had to download iTunes, probably updated the OS to 4.2.1 etc. And then many of the apps also uses data to function.

wow - it seems that something in the IPAD chows data.. this is the second report today..

I have an iPad and it can chow data. Its not hard to go through a few GB in the first week of owning it. Updates + 3D Games + 720P streaming youtube & music + big apps. Even some free books are a few hundred MB.

Just a quick question how can I keep costs down of my iphone ?
Its on MTN R200 airtime each month (I figure its top up can anyone confirm)with the 110 mb free each month
but i have noticed that the whole iphone setup seems to be online most of the time
(app wise) It won't bother me at home as I'll let it use my wifi
but when im out it could use a lot
Im hoping i can set apps to only get data when needed
am I right in saying that this is a top up contract (meaning when your airtime is up your data won't work ? my old contract was like that MTN top up R300)
I read some where that the 110mb data is only for three months ? (MTN states it as 24 months)
thanks

Maybe he should get uncapped at home and let his daughter use the uncapped for her ipad
