Not that it helps, but I returned a dead scanner to Take2 once, and it took 3 months to get it back.
Not their fault, but u may have a bit of a wait...

That's not normal.I've sent Take2 an email taking them up on their 'offer'. I also asked if it was possible to get a refund so I could get a different LCD. Never touching another Asus product again if possible.

Guess what - I just got the same answer on my Samsung 2232GW from Samsung - its normal, and I must accept it... even when I told them I put the monitor next to another Samsung 2232GW and it doesnt have the same bleeding... they said its normal on some screens...W - T - F.
If it's not possible to return the LCD, you could try this. It would probably void the warranty though.

Backlight bleed is most apparent against a black (or generally any dark colour) background.
