in huge malls they dont bother of running to see why

in waterfront ...most of the time the machine at the breakwater parking does not work
press help they say buzz me at the gate

Most places that have a PnP have an arrangement that if you shop at PnP they give you 2 or 3 hours free parking.

If one or two people take a new ticket then it won't be noticed straight away until the system informs the operators that there is an outstanding amount of over a few ten thousand for a ticket thats months/years old. If say over 20% of the total number of people do this, its pretty easy to trace what vehicle used which ticket to enter and exit the parking. In the end you run a small chance being prosecuted, maybe. Not all shopping centers use a pressure sensor to detect when to spit out a ticket, some machines still have a button you press for tickets.

I've probably only paid for parking at Menlyn a handful of times and I used to go there atleast twice a week.
I've never cheated the systems but paying for parking at malls is a massive scam.
I avoid the ones that don't give at least an hour of free parking.
Why must I pay to visit a business?!
I already pay for the goods purchased which ends up going to the mall owner via rent.

I ride a bike. Most malls are decent enough to leave a gap at the end of the boom wide enough for us to slip through. Fortunately a lot of them only do that on the IN booms, and then you struggle to go OUT again (CoughCenturionCough).
At malls where I cannot slip past the IN boom (CoughMenlynCough) I have to stop and take a ticket. My bike is not heavy enough to trigger the sensor so I can push the button until I'm blue in the face and get nothing. Security usually ends up opening for me. They eventually adjusted the sensor weight down, so now I have to get a ticket.. but their exit booms have a bike gap. WTF?

Yup, broke a boom clean off when I tried to tail gate a car and didn't make it.
I have installed parking booms and ticket dispensers, although not at that site. There is a loop detector about 1 metre from the ticket dispenser. If you press the print button and there if has not been a signal from the loop detector up to 30 seconds prior to pushing the button, it will not transmit the signal
The way to defeat it is to carry a large spade or a shovel and wave this across the loop wiring ahead of the ticket dispenser and it will give you a ticket.
The loop detector will not work for bicycles, although wheel-barrows are ok.
So now you know what you have to take with you to save the odd R10 or so
I am sure the security won't mind you walking down to the entrance, dodging the cars and waving a spade two or three times across the loop (assuming you can guess where the cables are). At least at the Waterfront

Hour and a half. If you've been at Canal Walk for longer and you still get PnP to swipe your ticket, the boom machine will say "time limit exceeded" when you insert it.
At Canal Walk when you push the help button they just open the boom without saying anything. I do it all the time. Did it this morning in fact.
