Does Vodacom sell a wireless 3G modem/router yet?

Reason I'm asking, is that I want to use all the features of my PlayStation 3 (and maybe play some Killzone 2 online), but I can't plug my Vodafone E172 modem into my PS3 and get an internet connection.

The wireless option would be best for me, cos then my PS3 and laptop can both use it.....and just for fun surf the net on a 42'' widescreen display. :)

Been selling them for years. First the Linksys but lately the B970 is more popular.

I use the Vodafone B970 with my PS3.

Works ok.

OOOH!!OOOOH!!!

The Linksys one is AWESOME... mostly coz you can flash it with custom linux firmware hehe.

The test-model i had got fried with eskom's "were being funny every day for 2 hours" (aka: loadshedding)

I do believe there might also be one that can take a usb modem... checking, will post back if i find.

I have used both the Linksys and the B970. The B970 is definitely the better router, it's only weakness is the small wifi footprint. The linksys covers a much larger area (and it its defence it has been around for a few years).

Thank you for all the replies, will visit my local Vodashop tomorrow. :)

So the B970 works the best then? I'm using MC950D. So I have my PC, PS3, stick modem and B970 router . . . they all need to be connected , right?
You won't need the stick modem any more.

Python,
You will need:

A sim (hehe, a bit obvious but meh)

and:

The B970
OR
Linksys or Billion or whatever router you decide on + A modem/device.

For the Linksys, it will have to be a dataCARD... the flat ugly things (NOT usb).

For the Billion and other usb devices, you will need the usb device.

The B970 has builtin device, but most other routers require an additional external device.

Thanks alot Wheunis and Ginggs for the info. It looks like the B970 is the one to go for, but Ill just keep the MC950 for now.

Keep in mind though...

Much harder to take your router with you on holiday, than just slipping the card/usb out of whatever else and take that with you, along with a laptop...

Not everything is always made of clearcut win.

Agreed. Thats why I'll keep the stick modem.

I know that.

It still remains much less attractive as a traveling option.
All I'm saying is carefully consider the options available, and how they fit your particular situation in ALL aspects.

There is always that too.

Another thing to consider...

Integrated = it is as it is.

If 4G is released in 10 months... sorry, you dont have it, and will have to buy an entirely new router to get it.

With an external device, you just replace a stick or card, which turns out a whole lot cheaper and less hassle.

BUT, there are some downsides to external...
Making sure the external device is compatible, having 2 sets of firmware to update (and thus double the chance of something going wrong)...

Bah.

Each is as good as the next, but for it's own reasons.
